growing up my father always had old trucks. he would buy one it would stop running for one reason or another, then he would sell it. then regret it. a year or so would go by then he would do it all over again. i thought it would be a nice idea to buy a fixer upper, fix it up then give it to my father. i picked this truck up a couple months ago here in rusty *** connecticut. i sold one of my vespas and a vintage eddie merckx bicycle. now i had 1400 in my pocket, i paid 1500 for the truck. so this is the story of my 1960 f100 buck truck

Good luck with your new project, Dave! I was gonna post a pic of my old '60, and then I noticed it was you, you've already seen the photos. :p

Looks like a good start. How bad is the rust?

a 12 pack of new castle goes a long way when you are asking for drops at the local sheet metal supply house. walked out with about 50 lbs of drops for the price of a 12 pack.

How'd you manage to have such rusty floors and good cab mounts? My 61 has nice floors but both cab mounts are GONE

it may be rusty but i still dig an old pick up , my first ride in a hopped up vehicle was a 65 ford pick up my cousin built , other cousin had a 39 ford flat bed with a 327 man i wish i had that truck , i found out years later the next owner ran it into a tree an destroyed ,

drivers rear was gone. drivers front was so so. i was able to reinforce and save the drivers front mount. the front still had plenty of solid metal to weld to.

Neat idea, my dad died before I completely restored his old truck.

Here's a cool old Ford truck commercial:

thanks to zephyr for hooking me up with a new spring hanger. the shackle bolts were a *****.

got some more done on the rear cab mount channel. my low buck harbor freight brake was giving me big balls trying to make this. i ended up using my angle grinder to score the sheet metal. the brake almost pulled it off after that. took a few wacks with the hammer and edge of the bench to make the 90. should be able to finish it on saturday.

Dave, that's a super nice gesture. Your dad did a good job. Can't wait to hear about him getting the keys... perhaps you should tell him to give you a ring before he calls the Bargain News, should this one ever give him any fits. :D
