Chip, I've been in three movies, performed in front of thousands of people in my life, some crazy "show" in Tijuana... actually, nevermind about that...
Best of all to Blake machine where I got to shake Mr. Blake's hand and hear the story of the Panel and see some of the AMAZING projects they've got underway at their shop.

Besides... I wore a mask in all those movies...

Glad to hear that this was recovered and I do not know Nic but glad that he was there when he was and had a keen eye to spot it.

Gang this is serious about people stealing our stuff. I have had to chain all my frames and body parts together. It seems that scrappers from here to hell have been eyeing my stuff and now even "friends" are trying to get their hands on my stuff. I even had a guy pull up the drive and demand that I just give him my 39" truck cab. Damn near let the dog out on him. Good to see that someone stands up and gets justice now a days. Keep up the great job, thanks. Ray

this makes me think how many times they got away with this..very bold..
clear up something for me if you can?
was the faded paint and all to make it look old done by the theifs? did this truck look like it did in the first set of pictures when stolen?

if so..they could have pulled this off with alot of the cars we have seen reported stolen here,,

, maybe they busted something bigger than they think

They sanded down most traces of the Logo/Lettering seen in the pics in the first post. I say most traces because upon lose inspection you can just barely see/read the lettering. I didn't know this until Mr. Blake told me that this morning. I couldn't see the lettering from ten feet away and didn't want to alert the thives by looking too closely at the sanded areas. I just hopped out of my car and started taking pictures like an excited tourist.

I've spoken to Mr. Blake about any reward/donations and I'll post the paypal info when I get it. As previously mentioned all monies will go directly to him.

  17. Nick ! sharp eye, wish you were around T-town in Washington when my car was stolen ! good job !

I think that one of the most important aspects is being missed here. From what I've read, the vehicle had a temp registration tag in the back window. I'd be trying REAL hard to find out how that was done. Sounds like malfeasance somewhere. It looks like some DMV clerk needs to go to jail with their buddies.:D

Mmmm, maybe they are already buddies?

It's great to see everyone pitching in like this. I think the history of the truck makes it just a smidge more satisfying as well.

    Great ending.

Tubman, I have thought of this since talking with Nick right after the DMV yesterday, before the actual recovery. Our state is by far NOT the easiest to get an antique car registered in. They will however grant a 3 day trip pass to damn near any thing that will roll. This is intended to make the vehicle leagal to pull or drive from place to place. Unfortunately, Mexican customs coming in will accept this shred of legality to allow people to pass the boarder. I haven't seen the figures in awhile, but for most of the last decade we have been the auto theft capitol of the nation because of this problem. A sizable portion of the vehicles stolen here go across the boarder within hours of the theft, and can not be recovered. My fear is that if we really push the Dmv to change and improve it's dealings, it will become damn near impossible to be able to title and register anything but a brand new late model car. I know that is a very selfish thing to state, but we do have a tendency to go overboard when trying to solve problems in our state. I would not want to see the mess California is dealing with in my home state, but historically, that's how it works. Now if you want to talk crooked DMV employee - you won't even get an eyebrow raised from me!

I think it's great they got the panel back, good job Nick. but I would really like to know how the hell they got what appears to be a legit tag in the back window. No telling how long this type of thing has been going on. just my .02

Wow, thanks for the feel good story of the year. It's a bit of comfort for those of us who fear a similar situation.

Still, they should have known better, this must have been on the dash...

Nick, you're a damn good guy, I'd hope anyone here on the HAMB would do the same. You should be really proud of yourself. I'm glad to see this one had a happy ending. :D
