Way to Go! Another Old Ride saved from the Monster Machine. Sure would make a Great Gangster Low-rider, JMO. firstnomad www.angelfire.com/jazz/flatlandstudio
them old mopar axles look killer on a fenderless ride! just a little harder to find stuff like brakes n spindles for em...
That axle looks great. There is a man on the D24-P15 website that makes a disk conversion for the old mopar front brakes, utilizing (I am pretty sure) GM rotors. A really reasonable setup, I believe. his name on that site is OldDaddy. This axle looks to be in excellant condition, don't know anything about the brakes on it, but the drums turn free and smooth. Joel
I'll keep an eye on it....if it comes up for sale, (which I believe it will), I will be sure and post it to the forum.
but i don't WANT disc brakes. i just hogged out the kingpin holes and used '59 dodge PU spindles and drums on it.. real reasonable too. i traded an old chainsaw for the whole truck!
My kind of trade I had heard that you could use those spindles and drums, but wasn't sure what it took to do it.
kingpin bores need hogged and since i used my car size steering arms, i had to hog those out too for the truck size bolts. that's all it takes. stops this little roadster like she hit a wall o' jello!
There's lots of room behind the firewall in those cars, don't hesitate to move the firewall back 5 or 6 inches, you will be glad you did. I only set mine back 3", and wish I put it back farther.
Do any of you know where I can find a good windshield frame for a 35,36,37 Dodge truck? Maybe even the 38?
I don't have an extra one at this time, but I have ran across them a few times while looking for parts for my 37 Plymouth pickup. I'll let you know if I can locate one. Joel
Thanks. Mine was fine when it wouldnt open. I pulled it out to replace the glass and make it open. The frame has a few bad spots in it. I may just have to fix it.
Thank you! Great car, and true artistry showing in your work. Also, kinda of funny, (as I live in Oklahoma), that I was looking at Rock Able's super nice 41, and the great job he is doing on it in person just last Saturday! Joel
Small world isn't it? Rock has been great in giving advise and support during my build so far. It's a shame I don't live a little closer to you guys.........
It sure is, but the internet sure makes us all a lot closer, and at least able to keep track of what is going on. I'll be watching your thread to keep up on your progress.
