Event Coverage 23rd ANNUAL GUNNISON COLORADO CAR SHOW

Proof will be this weekend. Need to have the electrical finished to fire it up. I wanted to have all gauges operational while I do the cam break in. Gauges are in the cowl fuel tank face. Masters for both brakes and clutch are under the dash also. All the electrical is made up except that going to the top of the engine. Water sender, choke, coil, cranking signal enrichment solenoid (vintage fuely trick), etc.

Have the cab lifted as of this morning to try to install some sheet aluminum under the tube steel floor...then set it down and reconnect electrical, brake, and clutch lines. Would prefer to bleed the hydraulics prior to putting the cowl tank back on. LOTS easier to access. Then the cowl goes on and the cowl wiring plugs into the rest of the system.

The engine start needs to happen by Saturday at the latest. Lots of fluids and hoses to go. Fabbing accelerator linkage right now. If it runs...we are in the running!

I will do a cursory job on the interior ***uming we have a good weekend (systems are go!). Need to install gl*** in all openings just before we leave. Looked at the 10-day forecast and seeing a 40% chance of trouble...

YES ! The kick-off Cruise-In is a week from today starting officially at 6:00 PM. Main St. will close as of 4:00PM to the public. Show cars can start parking as of 5:00 PM. At 6:00, right after a righteous rendering of the National Anthem, The REV-TONES will be rocking Main St. until 9:00 PM. Bring the cooler, the lawn chairs, and play in the middle of the street just like your parents told you not to.

Alex will be spinning tunes by now, the vendors will be operating, the sun WILL be shining !

The car parking crew will be pulling their hair out trying to get all the cars parked to the owners satisfaction.

And, the Cub scouts will be following me around with a Radio-Flyer wagon full of cokes and doughnuts saying; "hey fatty, wanna run a tab ?".

Hell yes, we're coming! Hoping to have that jalopy running by tomorrow. Took the week off to do troubleshoot (hope not), break in, and a pile of little ****. Cross your fingers and wish us luck!!

Making some progress...we have a runner! Will post later. In the meantime, wondering who will be heading out Friday morning. We would love to caravan. Our route will be I25 south to I76. I76 to I70. 470 to 285 through Fairplay. Hoping to pick up some Knights from the Springs along the way.

Engine came out this past weekend...building new motor mounts this coming weekend...work progresses...!!!

Thanks to the wisdom I have derived from your experience, seriously considering trailering. I have never been too keen on doing engine break-in at a constant speed. Not a trend, this trailer stuff. Born out of necessity...maybe. See how I feel come Friday AM.

Wow! Its finally here.. The RevTones Leave the Bay Area to Gunnison at 5:30AM Thursday Morning.Spending a night in Green River,UT.Should arrive in Gunnison,CO around Noon Friday.

 

I fly out of here tomorrow (Thursday) morning and i'll be equipped with some killer tunes!

You low landers need to start drinking lots of water now, and keep drinking it when you get up here. Eight Thousand feet of elevation can mess with folks who aren't used to it !
