Car Crash In Burbank

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by <FANG>, Aug 15, 2010.

  1. That was Bob Edlefse from the Valley, I understand that the Vicky was recently rebuilt, and had not been driven many miles since. This was a 4-car accident. Bob is in the hospital, due to come home on Wednesday, he suffered damage to vertebrae. Thank God for those that stopped to help. This was in Sherman Oaks

So glad to see others rushing TOWARD the fire to help. I just hope the "driver" of the (most likely) air bag equipped vehicle that rear-ended him wasn't sitting around holding their neck and speed-dialing an attorney.
Wishing a speedy recovery to the Rodder and the Rod.

I'm adding a second to all of mine.

  9. Fire extinguisher is directly next to my left arm in my model A just in case. Hope Bob recovers quickly.-Weeks

  10. Got the fire extinguisher already... tomorrow A.M. the 3/8" pipe I was thinking about putting in the frame, between the bumper and the fuel tank, is now NOT an option.

First we have a recovered vehicle to celebrate, and now we have good samaritans rescueing one of our brother hot rodders... I've gotta go apologize to my dog for kicking him (just a saying-didn't really kick him).

hotroddon, let Bob know we wish him a speedy recovery - the car can be fixed.

  11. Excuse Me???

  12. really!,some peoples kids...And i really hope the best for the crew in the car and when all are HEALED up the vicky gets a trip up to Brizios shop to heal up also................respects to those who saved the day,. I Gotta admit fire scares the crap outta me my firebottle is right next to the shifter

If not for the quick response from people at the scene the driver would have been killed by the fire. There is a lesson here about fire extinguishers. I will be adding one to each of my rides including the Silverado. Without that ansul extinguisher the entire car would have been engulfed. Frightening video.

Callous as this may sound, the 'samaritons' might want to keep a low profile.
Insurance investigators vehemently add names of such good folks to a list,
and when all ends are exhausted, these folks are the ones that get sued.
This is a fobia in California.

Californians won't take shit like that sittin down though-I've personally experienced it when someone left turned in front of my Hog in an intersection! Couldn't believe all the guys who dragged my bike and I out of harms way. Least I wasn't pinned or trapped though like THAT guy! Whew!

Look at the trail of fuel.....he got the shit knocked out of him, sent him all the way across the intersection. That is the scary part of driving them......all the other numbnuts out there. Hope all turns out well.

  17. Hopefully he recovers, but it seems to me what we learn from this is a '32 type tank is instant Ford Pinto in a collision, and to be safe you might leave one on there for decoration but put the real tank elsewhere.

Friend at Speed Frame Engineering in Farmersville was talking about a bladder for '32 tanks, but it had to be inserted with the tank opened up. (that means a new repopped tank)
With the success I've seen in circle track racing, it looks like a good idea!

I had a fire once, channeled Model A Coupe with stock tank, flathead and 4 Strombergs.
Recipe for disaster. I got right out, and with help, put the fire out. Lotsa damage, could have been 'grisly'...

Please please please take a monent and just LEAVE and never come back if you feel like posting anything like that again. It may have sounded like a good idea at the time but here we are kind of an extended family.

People hurt, strangers stepping up to help. So glad people are not dead.

  23. The good people that put their lives in danger to help are covered under "Good Samaritan" legislation in most states, if not all.
Just when you think no one cares about anyone but themselves, you see this video and realize that, actually, most people are willing to help another human-being in need.
All the best to the driver in hopes of a full recovery.

I was having a debate with a good friend of mine last night, his contention was that people are not really good when it comes down to it, I disagreed and this video proves it.
I hope all involved get well soon.

Glad this came out good....I hope that he recovers without any complications...that was pretty crazy.
Maybe some good will come out of this...I always was a little nervous about the gas tank location....and of course the gas tank in the cowls really scare the crap out of me...please do not smoke in my model A..thank you. A friend of mine has a model A with the original gas tank...that would be the first thing I'd change out. Seems like you could put a tank in the frame rails under the car somewhere.

  28. Yeah, that was one helluva trail of fuel. He must've got hit pretty damn hard, by someone really not paying attention. Accidents like this make me very leary of owning a chopped car, making rescue that much more difficult. I say NO to shaved door handles for that same reason. It doesn't clean up a car's appearance enough to have the risk (my Vette was shaved before I owned it BTW)

  29. I'm just in shock after seeing that video.....

Good luck to everyone that was involved.....
