Hope to see it at Chad's next weekend.

What product did you use for the rust.. a phosphoric acid of some kind I thought but which one?[/QUOTE]

I found some driveway cleaner at Wallyworld a few years ago that was marked down for clearance , the olny ingrediant was phosphoric acid so I bought every bottle :D ... I just cut it 50% with water ( distilled seems to work better , found that here on the HAMB), spray it with hot soapy water after a good scrub with the mixture and some stainless steel wool , then dry it asap ...it will keep the surface rust to a minimum for quite a while even around here.

    Thanks..
I have some Dupont stuff (5717s I think) but it's mainly the same thing.
I'm experimenting with everything and just wondered what you used.
    We sure do have rust...

This is one of those threads that seems to stay on page one, day after day after day, and then you finally click on it to realize it has a bazillion pages..... and then an hour and a half later........ you've digested what this builder has accomplished....... and all you can do is stare slack-jawed at the screen..... and you realize you have crusty drool on your chin.

Well done, Sir!!!! I'll be checking back. And now I'm heading out to the shop.

Listen.. you know the drill.. and so do I.
You must take care of that back or you will be flat on it and not working on the car.
Then you'd have most of the hamb crew ticked at you.
    Take care.

Clearly this has spun way out of control from what you started doing.:D I was overly impressed with your work on the orginal car then you did the whole top thing and blew us away at work. I found this thread via the S-10 frame thread and am wondering how bad all this blew the budget you started this thread with. Amazing. Keep going I can't imagine how killer it will be when it's done.

This is a question we should often ask . If we spend half time in the garage the time we spend in front of a keyboard , a project could be finished in only 4 years :p
I just work 3 or 4 hours this week end must used 10 hours my Internet :)
I have to admit what I m dooing is quite boring ... Fixing rust under the hood , no place for a grinder , weld / grind with a 1/4 carbure bit , etc ..

The budget isnt really too bad....I have more invested in welding gas, wire, cut-off wheels etc etc than I actually do in the car itself believe it or not ! The car was $400, sold the chassis and wheels for $375....S10 was $225 sold what I didnt need for $250 motor and trans were $175, but I think I am getting a better combo from Flatheadfever fro:Dm his daughters car , oh and I paid $200 for the coupe carcass, and I stil gotta pick up the remains of the 4 door 47 Monarch. Bought a truckload of parts also for $300 and sold the rims for $200. It will start costing more now...bondo sandpaper epoxy primer , and I gotta start buying window gaskets door rubbers etc I will try and keep aloose tab on what it costs to get it on the road

That reads like a certain credit-card ad...
The ending needs to be something like:

Man that's great!! Clearly the biggest investment is your time but that is going to be one incredible car and not alot of money out of pocket to do it. Congrats, I'll be following along as you finish it.

You don't get the luxury of being tired til you've decided you've done enough!............

Remember the little old lady who looked at the Hamburger and said "where's the beef?"

I'm saying that now about some updated pics......I need them, I can't help it that I am selfish.
