John Fodrowski owns this 1937 Ford, that was once raced by Cotton Owens.

When is the last time you saw a Hudson Terraplane built into a Modified? This one was owned by Gordy Bird, but has since been sold to (I believe) Eric Orewiler.

Gene Vitiello in his Pinto Mod. Looks to me like a Troyer chassis, but don't know for sure.

Unfortunately, we lost Gene just a few short weeks before the 2010 Reunion.

    RIP Gene!!!!!

Bob Judkins tightens the right rear on the original 2x car, and also the tribute 2x. There are close to 30 years between these shots!

Frasson, Thanks for the photo's. Most of those cars are members of the DAARA Club in Florida (as well as part of thier local clubs when they are not in Florida like myself). Many of them can be seen on a weekly basis trading some paint in the DAARA Southern Vintage Series (www.daararacing.com). I'm working on cleaning up the 98 and getting it back to the way it looked when my father raced it in the late 60's.
    Thanks, Dan

The #44 in post #6462 is Don Yeingst. I had the car for a few years hoping to find time to restore it ('67 'Cuda) but it now belongs to John Clark of the Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club here in upstate NY.

  20. That #40 driven by Bob Wearing at Trenton was owned by Harold Smith of Bassett, Va. He still has it. Wondering if anyone has any good clear photos of that day with the #40?

Question ?? I know the answer is 'whatever the buyer is willing to pay' but I'll ask anyway.....what would you think is a 'good' price for a 34 Ford Tudor body that is going to be using for a 1960's era modified. Body only, no hood or grill shell. Thanks.

Would anybody have photos of Art Clark from the West Seneca, NY area. I meet Art last Sat. while up state looking for vintage racing parts. He raced for 50 years with a bout load of victorys from many differant tracks. Last year race I beleive was 2004. Raced mostly at Holland and Perry International Speedway. Great guy! 74 years old and still ready to race. Here is a shot I found in a 1968 Gater racing news year book.

Last couple of days I watched the Modified races from Bristol and New Hampshire. I know the cars were new, but it was cool to see old style racing. Racing with respect, something you don't see in the top three touring divisions. Hopefully they will show more races, and maybe pony up for some more cameras to see some mid pack racing. And that will lead to some shows developed like "back in the day" except for modifieds (and without the pop-ups).

Still trying to find contact information for Jack Lecuyer

  28. Tuesday was Bowman Gray, we had 3 nights of Mods!!! we have about 7 more races on tv this year. Watch Versus channel, they have one about every week. They did a great job camera wise with Riverhead and then Stafford.

Yeah, the racing was good, but the coverage could have been better.

I dislike how they will excise about 30% of the middle part of the race.

They go to commercial at lap 50, and then come back from that same break at lap 135 or something. That kinda chaps my ass, but I guess 75% of a modified race is better than none at all.

That, and the commentators kinda suck. Listening to Jack Arute is like fingernails on a chalk board to me, and Jimmy Spencer needs to at least have a list of the driver's names in front of him before things start.

I like Spencer though, he was a hell of a racer and he's funny, so I can deal with inexperience calling the race, but Arute has been doing it for 30 yrs. What's his excuse for sucking so much? It's the same thing with him on the Indy car broadcasts. They stash him on pit road with a TV monitor and cut to him when they need someone to say something moronic. The guys in the Indy car booth make fun of him for being stupid (on the air, no less :D ) all the time. At least that has value from a humor standpoint.

The Bristol race was a hoot. Easily one of the best races I've seen this year.

I suspect Arute and Paul Page may have the same issue. I may be wrong (it would be good if I was) but physical appearances are similar to those with the issue I'm thinking of.

I watched Bowman Grey, but to me it doesn't compare to the Stafford race or the others because they only way to pass is to hit the car you want pass (unless you choose the outside for restarts). The track isn't wide enough.
