    Story goes like this....

I got word that there was a 1926 Model T Roadster in a barn in Nor Cal and pursued the trail. Turns out to be true and nice (but sad) story behind it.

Car was parked in the barn around 1970 and sat there since not seeing daylight, until today. Gentleman passed away recently and had planned on restoring the old girl but went blind and was unable to do so. He rode in this car as a kid!!! The wife gave me a picture of him back in the day (see below) and said she is happy someone will be "restoring" it finally.

I gave her a good price as she is in need of money without her husband around now.

Has cherry hood and sides, top wood and extra parts included, two grill shells (perfect).

I GOT A REAL BARN FIND!!!!

I will be removing it next weekend and will take more pictures!

  4. cash, then car. never a few days between. i would get that out fast before someone else follows your trail to the same place. Even if she is a stand up lady that wouldnt resell it out from under you

I doubt that she will sell it "out from under me"... she is 86 years old and not looking to sell to just anyone, I earned the right to buy it......

but trust me I will get it soon.... making plans to do so sooner. :D

  7. what are your plans for the roadster after you collect it? I personally would almost consider stock model A frame , motor , trans and rear etc under it .

That car, given its history, deserves to be restored.....just my opinion........Mike

  12. Restore it. A car like that, that's all there, with history behind it needs to be restored. If you won't do it, get a good buck from someone who will...

Cool find! Do what ever you want to with it and don't feel bad about it! Just don't let it sit for another 40 years!

Cool car and story, it would be shameful to rod it, not many left alone for that long that end up in the right hands to restore. I say restore it.
    Very cool.

Great find! Even if you don't restore it, consider seeing (just for the fun and challenge) if you can get it running and drive it around as is for awhile. You might have a restorer make an attractive enough offer to flip it and buy another project car to rod=win/win.
Be sure to see what else is lurking in the garage that may be for sale;parts, tools, memorabilia, etc

  17. cool find! what no triple A? that car would have left with me after i handed anyone the cash. i purchased a very mint 50' chevy panel that hadn't seen the light of day since 61' and when i went back to pick it up i was handed a envelope containing my money plus $200 for my inconveinence. turns out the grandson had his eyes on it and after he found out he squashed the sale. turns out the reason the title couldn't be located he had grabbed it years before to make sure he ended up with it. upside was he gave me 4 other of grandpa's vehicles for simply removing them and understanding about the panel.

I think it is cool to have an original old photo to go along with your car.

Hard to believe there is virgin tin still out there. Here is what I found and bought a few weeks ago stuffed into a shed some 40 plus years ago. This one gets restored as everything is there!

  25. Great story - you seem like the kind of guy that deserves this car. Do with it what you want (it is your car), but I bet the ole' gal would sure love a ride in it!

Get it done while she is still here!

    Nice Find!

O.K., so a lot of guys are saying to restore it, but I'd go take a look at the gow job thread. Making a full-fendered period mid '30's hop up would be very cool.

Regardless, this one is so complete, i'd keep the fenders on it. Could they be used with a Model A frame?

Good luck with it, Kinky6

I plan to do a restoration with some minor period correct gow-job upgrades. The car is 100% complete. At one point it was converted to a Pick Up and I hope to find the bed in that barn.

I will be searching the barn for all the goodies as it is stuffed full of tools, parts and more.

I already plan to keep in contact with the seller and her kids as they are all anxious to see it brought back to life. One of the kids (I say kid,but he is 60 something) recalls this being the only family car when he was young, too cool!

I will post up more pictures when she gets to her new home in the next few days.

Thanks for all the positive feedback...

stock or mod? would be a hard choice for me - i sold a very nicestock 26 T last year - t's are around town cars for sure - not made for today's slab hwy's - people really get pissed anymore if you hold up traffic for just a short time - everyone is in a hurry - it's really a pain in the ass anymore driving a vintage car on the road - around town can even be a problem - i know - just ignor them but it's hard to do - i have people get right on my ass tailgating - i sold the T & now have a very nice 1930 A - much better choice for a road car but even the A is a 45/50 MPH car - yes it will go faster but their not made to go faster - drive an A 45 MPH & the the old babbit bearing engine will go many miles - stock or mod.? if it were me i think i would buy a donor - maybe a s-10 PU 4 cyl. & use the drive train with most everything else stock - Stock T's can be bought pretty cheap so can A's - a lot of T's & A's have survived the test of time - tom
