Yeah, this is the car from Redding. What do you know about it? I got it from a guy that bought it off of the fellow in Redding. It appears it was never finished. I'm completing as a '66 style F/X car. The rear wheels were moved foward 12".
Whats the story with this car, When did you race it,what did it run? Was it a big block, did it have leaf springs? It's a cool Nova what ever became of it?
I raced this one back in 74-75 period. It was a 454 cu.in. 850 cfm Holley, turbo 400 combo for brackets. It ws my first big block car. Used it for seat time and learning what they liked. It had a 4 link setup and ran 10.90's -11.30's, without really leaning on it much. I sold it to a guy that ran it at OCIR for some time later, don't know where it went from there. I moved on to faster rides. Started running stronger BB's in Altereds and finally set an NHRA National record in this one. First car in the eights. 8.96 at OCIR in 78.
I've owned this Nova since 1991. With a 1974 60 over 454,11to1,1966 closed champer heads,690 lift roller,MSD and a 1150 Dominator 8 inch converter TH 400 and 4.10s it ran 10.54@127mph. The car apears to have less thar 9000 original miles 1/4 mile at a time. It is a true SS 396 350HP M21 4.10 rubber floor mat radio delete. But I don't know any of the history of the car. I wish I did! I do believe the car has been in Ohio its whole life. If anyone recognizes my car from before 1991 let me know! The rear wheel wells are radiused by sectioning in front fender wheel wells. I believe they've been that way since the 70's. Also the build sheet says it was dark metalic green with a vinyl top but it's been black also since the 70's.
Thanks for the comp! I'ts not tubbed at all, I run 275/50/15 Drag Radials on 8" rims with a 4.75 back set. I did have to roll the wheel opening bead a little. if I had it to do over I would go with a 4.50 back set because I had to massage the leaf spring a little to clear the tire.
You got a pretty piece there Jake. In the old race picture it looks like the pass window is down,or non at all. When did "they" make it mandatory to have side windows, anyone know? Johnny Rotten
If any of you are interested we will be racing with the Great lakes gassers at 131 dragway on sept 11 and again at milan dragway sept 25th. It'd be great to get some of these hotrods together, kinda like chevy II woodstock............. Ill admit it, I got racin on my mind.
Not HAMB compliant but this is my 67. I moved the differential forward about 5 inches when I tubbed the car so it technically qualifies as an altered wheelbase car.
Does any one have a picture of this car? This is the only shot I've found and I'd love to see the whole car! This paint job is killer don't you think.
This Nova has 3 motors !! 1 in the front 2 in the back ? 3 diffs in the rear? How's that work? If the car still has 3 motors in it when this pic was taken I don't know where they are?
I'm think'n the trunk. Just flip n twist around the rearend. No room behind the back seat anymore. On second thought I dont know that rear is narrower.
Here's ours, everybody! My wife and I finally have our Altered Wheelbase Nova, Storm Warning, tearing up the highway. We posted our progress on this thread back in February '10, but now we're on the road and we just turned 801 miles (since April 2010)! We're still tweaking her (does it ever end?) and it's a long way from being done, but we 're cruising - finally, after a two-year build! We hope you like "Stormy"!
