Dick Bland, beekeeper from Bathurst, is a splendid driver. Enthusiasts remember his capable handling of his Ford V8 Special and look forward to seeing him in action with the ex-Crouch Delahaye that won the Grand Prix so convincingly in 1949 at Leyburn, Queensland.

(I spent last weekend at Leyburn (Lee-burn) watching historic sprint races).

    E. Norman's famous "Double V8" will attract all technical types! Power is supplied by 2 Ford V8 engines hooked together ingeniously. Brakes are cooled by S.U. pump-actuated water sprays directed at the brake drums. This vast machine is capable of well over 100 m.p.h."

    V. Maloney has recently fitted a "blower" to his attractive M.G. (T.C.) monoposto and we hear he now plants the foot firmly down and really gets cracking!"

"D. E. Curran's very pukka looking monoposto powered by the popular Ford V8 motor that made its first appearance in the "A.G.P." at Nuriootpa last year but cooling was inadequate. Much careful thought and hard work has gone into this beautiful special and we hope to see it finish favourably today."

"Syd Negus, winner of the first Great Southern 50 at Narrogin in 1948 has his scarlet Plymouth Special going well and as it's a most reliable machine you can expect Syd to be in the Picture. Here he is being chased by Barry Ranford through the Hairpin at Narrogin."
