My son Rich (47 now!??!) got 'converted' to hot rods from Super Stockers in '95. We attended the Father's Day show & swap right after he got his '27 Nosed Roadster, then he tore it to the frame, redid everything. Now, his sons, Jake & Ian, are familiar characters in the roadster, Jake is welding now, (he's 10) and they are getting ready to do a '24 Dodge Touring (shortened, highboy style) for Jake.
They come to visit, and we talk hot rods. Jake says I should hurry up with my tub.
I say I've created monsters. Love 'em!

He'll be the only kid in school with that shirt on and he's proud of it. For those of us that couldn't have children this is a great moment that you shared. Thanks.

Totally On-Topic. The fact that you boy wanted to wear that his best shirt on the first day of school just shows how much he enjoyed your time together. The shirt represents how much he thought of that trip.

Bruce and Kay ( http://www.brucesrodshop.com/) went to the show as usual and brought back a shirt for everybody in the shop. Got to admit, they are really nice shirts.

The only problem I see is that, in the picture, your daughter isn't wearing a LARS shirt.

    Hey Mike,

Two of my kids, 10 and 6 are still wearing their wristbands from the show(a little faded though).

Mike, my wife and kids (all 11 of 'em) are my love and hot rodding is our passion. Family is VERY on topic for hot rodders! I'd much rather talk family with a fellow hot rodder than talk politics with most anyone! Thanks for sharing!

  11. Cool man, read the roadtrip thread, grampa and I are taking LilT to a car event this weekend. I have house stuff to do but screw it, the kid digs fawt rods at 3 1/2 years old! Great inspiration, thanks

Cool, I remember reading the original thread when you guys made the trip. I used to buy a shirt for my son at about every event I went to years ago even if I didn't get one for myself. His schoolmates always wanted to know where he got the cool shirts that no one else had.

One thing about it, your son won't have any problem thinking up a topic for his "what I did on summer vacation" presentation that kids that age usually have to do early in the school year.

I remember when I started back to school in grade school I ALWAYS wore the shirt from my favorite show of the year. Come to learn later on in life that a couple of my teachers liked looking at my shirts from all the shows over the summer to see where I'd been.

Keep that kid in a rod!

His hat has become a prized possession.

I'd like to have one but I don't think I would be an asset to the club due to my location. Ha Ha

Great thread and definitely ON TOPIC! One of the coolest things about Hot Rods is being able to include your whole family, and that makes you a very fortunate guy when everyone has the bug! Driving to the LA Roadster Show and Bonneville are life changing near religious experiences for me and are the most memorable and enjoyable things I've ever done although our Annual Black Hills Reliability Run comes close too. I missed your LARS thread at the time because I was moving around that time and it was a great read tonight because it brings back the great memories of my trips back there. Megan's fantastic LA thread certainly was a great inspiration and I'm glad it did the trick for you to do it yourself.

I always knew Deuce Daddy Don was a class act and this proves it.

I wish that guys that are quick to criticize others would remember what my mom told me:
"If you don't have anything good to say, keep your mouth shut!"

The Black Hills run is on my list. That has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth! We delivered a O/T customers car to Spearfish last summer and did all the stuff with the family with a pickup and trailer......I can't wait to get a roadster up there.

Yep, Don is the kind of guy who can restore your faith in the human race!!!

  29. Let me know when you're going to Spearfish... I have a couple of friends there and they need to see real Hot Rods!
