Well i want to customize my 41 ford a little more. I would like some opinions. I think I'm going to go with the 1957 Caddy Hubcaps with the bullet inserts but rather than that i'm not sure if i should let it be or should i do something else. I think i would like to do some pin stripping but i have no idea what would look good. Any idea's would be great. Thanks, Joe

Here are some pics so you know what i'm talking about.

i wouldnt put 57 caddys on it, i think the flippers in that pic look better than the caddys would, a nice pair of early caddy sombreros would like nice, also, i'd put bumpers on it..

  4. unchop, section, then a pie cut to the hood
    keep the flippers
    loose the spots
    tasteful stripes

    i love 41's - nice car

Welcome to the HAMB--I love 41`s. Chrome plate the grille-put the original style skirts on it-raise the front up a bit for the taildraggin look. Pinstripes would look good. But thats my opinion. Use the red centers on the hubcaps. they add a little color. the bullets blend in to much. How long have you owned it. I`d love to have it!

Is this the car that was on E-Bay? The color may be a drastic change for the better. At least a bumper on the rear would get rid of that 80's street-rod smooth look. I attached a picture of my '41 with a rear bumper and surround I recently added. Best of luck with your coupe!

What the car need for me would be a better stance.
Raise the front a bit and lower the rear a bit as well for a perfect speed boat stance. Then your slightly pointed upward hood will only add to the effect.
Whatever you do DO NOT pie-cut section a hood on a taildragging custom. That will only create opposite direction lines and the car will look very bad viewed from the side. Pie-cut hoods are fine on street rods, but not on customs.
Adding bumpers both front and rear will make it look very good. They can be stock 1941 Ford, or any type of custom bumper you will be able to find.
I would leave the hubcaps, or perhaps update to 1948 Cadillac (if you need Caddy hubcaps), but I would not use the 1957 Caddy Hubcaps. These hubcaps are very nice but in my book look only good on cars from the 50's and not on the full fender cars from the 40's. They need something smoother.

Find a set of (gl***) 1941-48 Ford fender skirts. they will flow much better with the fenders on your car than the teardrop shaped units you have on it now.
And think about relocating the Dummy Spots, to make them look more like the real things. There are some very nice Dummy Spots available that have cones very much shaped as the famous Appleton 112's. They will look better than the once you have on them now.

As mentioned by others a color change would be good as well.. and no pinstriping for me. ANd the grille, yes chrome would be much better than this painted look. But if that is not an option, perhaps paint is silver so so, to make it stand out a little better, and take away from the 80's street rod look.

First OFf Dude, I Love the car.. Since youre asking for advice. I'd say lower the back. IMO these cars look better either level or the back slightly lower than the front.. I agree with adding bumpers. I love chromed out bumpers.. I personally would lose the spotlights. Its such a pretty car, to me it's a bit distracting, but I could feel different if there were more chrome on the car ( bumpers, side trim, etc ).. A paint job if you really feel like going all out, and thats it from me..

Either way, you got one bad *** car. THink about what youre going to do, get all the bits, and then try and do all the stuff to it at once. It would be ashame to piece it together little by little. Its too nice...

  13. I say, if that's the extent of the customizing you got to do, is to swap a set of hubcaps on it, then **** it, go for it. Hubcap it up. A little strippin' would hurt either.

I agree with everything except the fake spotlights...I believe they detract from a well thought-out custom's lines.

Thanks for all the great input. How about lake pipes... yay/nay.... I also think that bumpers and dropping the back would be awesome. I live in central PA so Pot holes and Hilly roads... It might rub a lot of places around here. I know that i already rubbed the nose once.... Not fun... I traded my 1970 Chevelle SS for this car around memorial Day. It was on ebay. I'll make sure i do the intro.... Thanks again for all the Info.

ok 1st off. what are you trying to get out of this car? your last car was a 1970 Chevelle SS. these are to different styles as you know. some people screw it up and mix years really bad.i don't know you and not sure how much you know about traditional custom cars. i know a lot and vie studied lots of magazines and books. vie been into these style cars for 20 yrs now. finally able to get a job to buy a car and slowly work one it. you need to figure out what direction you want to go with it. RIK is a purest on customs. i am too, but i got a bit away when i put bags on my car. look at RIKs site. please don't put those lake pipes or 57 cadillac caps. hay don't mix well with these fords.

in the end its your car and you need to figure out what you want to do. we all here have different ways to make cars look good. have fun with it.
