Cool job on the hood. I was thinking about that show last week.would of loved to been there. Been doing a Roll cage for a Targa car sence last week and it has special mig wire for welding up the cage.so my mig is held up at the moment.I am fitting and making the panels for the Passenger side. doing much the same as the other side.so nothing new.

Looks great Steve...sure wish we could have been there to check out the show.
Dyin' to see the pics your gonna put up!

Chads louver press works pretty good don't it?

You would have been impressed with the walking we did on sunday to get that Hudson grille for the Flatliner!
Over a mile downhill on a seriously eroded abandoned road...then back UP the same way. The same morning we were 3/4 of a mile in the car path getting a crossmember with Leon! (Movingviolation)

    We're certifiable. Hahaha

Good to see the car getting more and more complete. And great you made it for the first show. I love the new angle photos you took... The roof profile is really fantastic.

As for the hood.... I'm happy to hear you have two hoods planned for the car. Because in my book its a BIG NO for louvres on custom cars, especially on late 40's early 50's customs like yours.
Louvres are for Hot Rods, smooth panels are for Customs!

Got to disagree. I really like the louvers. But I'm a racer not a custom guy.

Ijust keep telling myself that the Anne DeValle car had louvers :D I have I think 4 hoods for the car and one smooth one will be done at the same time when I paint the car so I can change my mind at will !! It was too easy to take the opportunity for some free louvers , the only cars with them in the area are ones done at Chads place.

Correct... but those where added in the mid 50's. I believe Anne owned the car from 1955 till 1957-58 and then had Barris redo the car (with louvers) when she bought it. Before that it did not have the louvers.
But I agree with you, if you have multiple hoods to chose from and the opportunity to have the louvered for free, then I would have done the same thing. But then I would hang the louvered hood on the wall... :)

What you've done to the car to this point, you've got the right to punch a few louvers.

I'm usually on the ball when it comes to pictures but didn't take a single one...despite having the camera on me! Weird.
I've been thru those paths and abandoned roads so many times in my life I guess I just didn't see it as worthwhile to photograph!
Funny how the mind works...because there were some interesting things to see along the way, for sure.

The old Hudson would have been a great shot alone...

Next time we go anywhere I'll try to give a walk thru of photos...wrecks and the trail itself.

  22. Personally, I think the louvered hood looks great.

You done good, I like your rocker panels.
My shop isn't heated either but that's not much of a problem here in Texas. It was a might toasty working out there today though.

I have been toying with the idea of louvers for a while. I don't think the coupe would look right with them.

Your car could work either way. Great shots by the way of the profile of the car and the car at the show. I hope you received a ton of atta boys, 'cause you deserve a truck load.

Hi koolkemp. Found this in my neighbor's driveway, and thought of you. Would you build me a custom from it? Chopped, channeled, sectioned, shaved, decked, and lowered with skirts please. Thanks!
