Depending on just how much car stuff you want to see. I would say the following stops are must sees. 1.Austin Texas car culture and music (Contential Club)2. Garlits museum and car show/drags in Fla.(Best hot rod museum) 3.Battle ship in Mobile Just stay on eastern side of bay which is not bad crime wise, 4. Eat a fabulous meal in New Orleans. Now this is where I tell you to be careful.Lots of areas not to wander into. But still a must do.4. The Shed BBQ in Mississippi. It not far off of I 10 You have to catch some Music there. If you had time I would suggest going to the blues museum in Clarksdale Ms.5. We take it for granted but the sugar white beaches of North Florida ( Destin/ Sea Side Area) Makes for some incredible pictures. Maybe drink a drink at the FloraBama bar(Florida Alabama state line on the beach). Total Redneck/trashy bar but lots of fun none the less.6. I know you are going to miss it but Cruisin on the Coast would have been fun. Texas usually has some car events in October. Same as Mississippi not as hot. Just a few ideas.

After the Museum of Naval Aviation @ NAS Pensacola take Hwy 98 to Gulf Breeze & then go out to Pensacola Beach & take 399 to Navarre Beach. Then back to Hwy 98 to Ft. Walton Bch/Destin. Hwy 98 is out on Okaloosa Island bewtween FWB & Destin, it'll look like snow back home! The view from the Destin Bridge of the East Pass is magnificent!

There are a ton of car museums in the south. A Google search for "Classic car museums" with or without the quote marks, will help find them.

    Thx guy,

To me, being an OLD car Gearhead, the Cadillac Ranch was almost a religious experience.

Those big planted in the dirt cars moved us across our great country back then and at highspeed on narrow Rte 66.

Dad drove Packards back in the late '40's up to the mid '50's and he would set them on 110 mph and go wherever he wanted to go once we left Champaign.

I was way cool with it only being a small pup until we hit the IL one-lane concrete and gravel in the country hwy's back then at speed and shoulda been on the gravel, He, He!!

No IL speed limit up to I want to say '55??

Have a GREAT time on your trip!!

  7. The Texas hill country is the best. San Antonio has the Alamo and river walk which is beautiful. It has shops, bars and restaurants along it. Black's BBQ in Lockhart, Texas has the best BBQ in the state. Austin has 6th street which is the live music capital of the world and lots to do outdoors. Their is Lake Travis, Lake Austin and Lady Byrd lake downtown. Another interesting fact about the Texas hill country is a lot of it was settled by swedes from Barkeryd. There is a celebration in Barkeryd every year about the migration to Texas. My wife is from Harnosand, Sweden so all her family is still over there. We vacation over there a lot. I really like it there. Here is a link for Austin hot rod events. http://www.motoraustin.com/default.htm If you come through Austin or San Antonio feel free to message me. If we are in town we could meet up. Jimmy & Malin

    Hello from Florida!!!
Looks like Sweden really loves Americana too!!!My brother-in-law Lenny Lljungholm, and from Stockholm, and myself, are planning on coming over soon with a few containers of 20s,30s,40s,50s,and 60,s cars from my dads/ uncles/family collection, for new clients there. We are bringing a 39 Lincoln Zepyhr coupe to leave there at his parents home to go driving in on our trips from then on. Would love to hook up w/some rodders there to for a cruise, beer, etc.I introduced Lenny to classic cars when he married my wifes sister last summer. Now he,s here in Florida and hooked like the rest of us poor souls.(o:}Best way to reach us is on our www.facebook.com page under"Atkinson Brothers"Take care,Jonny

The Garlits museum was awesome. Billetproof drags was a blast. We're in New Orleans now & tomorrow we're heading for Houston, Texas. I don't think we'll have the time to visit Austin. Are there any cool places, stores, speed shops, museums in Houston?

gotta do NASA and the Kemah boardwalk or down to Galveston for the Lone Star Flight museum time permitting. there is a Continental Club in Houston as well as Austin. Bruces Rod Shop in Spring, Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto battleground. you might catch a hockey game with the Aeros if youre getting homesick:D
