Okay... the update I'm super excited to share. THE FRAME IS PAINTED!!!! :D

With a just a ton of prep work to do before laying color, I finally had a chance for the planets to align and put 'er down!!

Prep and final blocking all done, frame wiped down, and tack cloth used to get anything I couldn't get with compressed air and a clean t-shirt cloth, here's how it looks in a see of cardboard...

After spending literally MONTHS looking at pictures of various cars and actually talking to people in parking lots about their car year and model I decided to stick with my initial plan of going with WASHINGTON BLUE! :D:D And after reading a ton and looking at feedback, I decided to go with TCP Global's "Restoration Shop" line of products. It is an Acrylic Urethane.

This was my first REAL paint job! I practiced a lot and felt very comfortable shooting it. I was more nervous about missing spots and running it, than anything else. But I think overall it turned out pretty decent. I spent the most time on the areas that will be seen. Only ONE run! And of course it's in a REALLY obvious place. But one run to fix, isn't so bad, considering. A touch up here and there to get as well. I had to keep reminding myself that most of it won't be seen and that it's A FRAME.

    And here's how it looks!!!

I never thought Washington Blue would have a hint of green in it! I was very surprised! It definitely gives it a real traditional vibe! I was SUPER nervous about how it would look once it was put down on something bigger than a dime. It's exactly what I had envisioned from the beginning... Couldn't be happier!

One thing is for sure though... Going to have to step up my finish work for the body. I knew that would be the case though. You can see EVERY screw up in the frame! HAHA! Thankfully most of them will be hidden by the body. :D

Thanks everyone for your comments! I really appreciate it! HUGE milestone and one milestone closer to being on the road!

    Chassis assembly THIS WEEKEND!! WOOOHOO!!!!

I worked on my frame most of the weekend, in hope to get it down to the blaster this week before finishing welding and such. It was good to see your update because I was getting the feeling that my attention to detail meant I wouldn't ever finish... but looking at that frame I know mine will benefit by my efforts.

Outstanding, Scott. Can't wait to see the roller assembled.

I love it dude!! It's got a lot of depth and I love how in the light it gets cloudy and in the shadows it gets deep and rich. Very old timey!!!

When you sent me the pics last night all I could do is dream about the car and it's quickie out back doing big smokey burnouts!!! For some reason you were not driving though....it was me. I think that's a sign.

HAHA! Well, be careful with it then!

AND YES! It gets almost a cloudy gray color at certain angles. I love it! I walked around it staring in different lights from different angles (mostly to look for what needed attention) and was amazed how a solid color could have so much depth and character. I can't even imagine what the body will look like in this color.

One thing is for sure... I bough plenty of paint! HAHA! Wasn't going to risk a variation from frame to body.

I almost need you to take a picture with the black radius rods next to the frame so I can get a sense of the contrast dude. Why is this thing not assembled!!! Tell you boss to help out....geesh.

Yeah, I have a couple pictures showing the contrast, but the lighting is so bad you can't get a good idea of the contrast. The gloss black looks awesome next to the blue. I'll try to get another picture later that shows the contrast...

Hurry up dude, your such a tease, get er done, but make sure you do the prepwork on your body, you're so close you can see the light.....

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)

Gonna' pull out all the stops on the body work! I have a TON to do and if it means buying better tools or learning a new skill set to do the job right, then so be it. This paint shows absolutely EVERYTHING, so this is going to be my skill-level test for sure! I've come this far, I need to turn the volume up to 50 and spend the time! Looking forward to it though!

    Thanks everyone!

Scooter, that color is close to Shari's Plymouth. Love that blue! Great choice!
