Thanks guys, its really starting to take shape.

Very nice and creative work. Now, PLEASE find a cool name for the car that doesn'tend with "ster".

Let me ask you this Chris, what would be your process of doing an inner door skeleton? I have a 5w as you know and the bottom 10" are roached so would you improvise if you were me or try to roll the exact beads out? 4dr bottoms? Interested to hear how you would approach that.

Lets see if the owner can chime in on that one. He has shown me a bunch of different dash's that he likes and I cant remember which one he is going with.

Dunno yet, at first I wanted a full on custom '36 Ford Roadster, than a mild custom, than I looked at my pocket book and reality set in. The hole build is based around my avatar and that pretty much dictates a '50 ish dash and gauge cluster............................. or just sell them all and go with the old round S/W ....................

First thing is you need to get the door fitting the opening of the car from the bottom where its cut off to the top with as good of gaps as you can get all around.

Then I would buy the replacement panel for the inner-bottom. And tape it up to the car spacing it with wood shims and get it to have the gap you want next to the rocker. (make sure that it isn't touching the rocker so when the door shuts it doesn't hit.)

Then its a matter of transitioning the sides down to the bottom piece. (if there is the outer skin still there trim it up a few inches so its easier to work on the inner door where they cut it off.)

The most important thing is that the inner door has the same curves as the cowl and rear door post. That way the outer skin will follow those curves and line up well.

Just take it one piece at a time. Don't try to make the whole thing in one shot cause with all the flipped edges and jogs can be tricky to get right in one piece.

Hope that helps. Kind of hard for me to explain it without showing.

Zephyr was my first choice but it was done nicely in another famous '35 build and IMO would have to be complemented with other, equally art deco body mods.........................

If we get to vote this is my pick, I like the balanced side to side look. [IMG]

I see your point on that, for sure.

I agree, as well. Although, to me, the split windshield & controls doesn't make much sense with a roadster. I do have confidence that whatever you choose will be fitting to this car.

    Can't wait to see more.

Thanks Chris, that'll definitely get me started!!!

As for dash, here's what I am putting in my '35 which has the same dash as a '36 pretty much. I wanted to keep that original 3 gauge look but with some of the pazazz (yeah I said it) of 50's stuff since that's my era I am shooing for. I think you'll miss it first hand but come back and realize something is different.

Pics (at least Chris's pics :D) don't do this car justice. I was looking at it last night at the shop and, man, it is going to be really sharp. Everything from the lines of the door gap to the transition of the cowl to the doors is top-notch.

I wouldn't know where to start on a project like this, which is maybe why I'm working on a 1920 T, hahaha. :D

Can't wait to see more on this. Bigrat, will this car have a package tray, or whatever you'd call where the top sits when down, like a stock roadster or is it going to be something more custom? As well, what's the plan for the seating area?

Ron Covell did this to me 40 years ago...I was astonished at how easily Ron could massage aluminum into a complex curve, such as the nose he did on Tom Prufer's '24 Track T at the time.
But this study in steel Chris has walked us through is...Multi-Dimensional!
His methodology has a "You can do this" ring to it.
My '27 tub is going to be much nicer after lessons Chris has demonstrated. The envelope has definitely been pushed, and I notice most of us following the thread are inspired to try things formerly beyond personal parameters! It's like HAMB Heaven.

Have to consult with Chris on the package tray area, he has a plan that will take care of body flex in that area and keep the drivers/pass. door "B" pillars square & solid.
I saved a real nice 3/W seat that I might use or I could add insult to the hole moredoor/roadster thing and adapt the 4 door front seat. I like the shape of the 4 door sedan seat as it curves around.............
Rite now I am more worried about getting the top profile dead on with the 3 1/2" chop.................
