Event Coverage iowa hamb get together !

Casino is still up and going.

They used to have a car show, but people stopped going after they figured out that alot of the winners and trophy getters were Native Americans. I have no proof of this, just a rumor. They ended up just canceling the show a few years back.

Tama/Toledo has a nice little show in Sept.
Last year it was the same day as the Inagural 'Iowa Hamb Get Together'.

I like that Casino ,,always won sum bucks when we went there ,,,I played Carrabean Pokor only but my Wife did the slot machines ,,she would end up with buckets of money ,,first time there ,,I won $750 bucks and they had to review the damn overhead camera before they paid me ,,Crazy ,,
When i had the Boat-A-Rama boat shop in DesMoines in the late '70's ,,there was a Boat Shop there in Tama ,,can't remember its name ,,but i would buy stuff from him ,and he'd buy stuff from me ,,
is that Boat dealer still there ??

 

Grinnell used to have a big car show on the Town Square ,,they'd close down several streets ,,my Wifes Mother was in the Nursing Home ablock or two from the square ,,
always looked like a good show ,,

 

Central Iowa Marine still might be in buissness, at least the building is still ther, But S****er Sports is no more.

I would be down for a road trip with ya again. It was fun last year, good little route on the way down, just a little bumpy. Looking forward to more people coming this year.

I spent one summer back in the 60's digging latrines and cutting brush on the old Tama Indian Pow-wow grounds (my folks thought it would give me "character:. Back in the days before the Casino, that was the big fundraiser for some pretty down and out folks.

 

we'll be going to the Outkast hot rod show in Mitchell south dakota it's september 24-26 a good show and a great time, this year there is a "betty" contest. lots of g***ers and old school cars

 

My 50th Marshalltown Hi School Reunion is Sept 1st 2011,,,i've gotta be there for that ,,that year ,,just might move back there ,,pretty soon ,,gotta go to the V A Hospital in Des Moines ,,,pretty soon

 

You're ahead of me by 40 years. I wouldn't be surprised if my cl*** doesn't have a 10-year reunion.

 

was planning the 18th but some nearby hambers have a conflict that weekend ! would the 25th of sept work for everyone ? give me some input please

 

25th would be the outkast show in mitchel SD. the local HAMBers should get to gether and cruise to mitchell on the 24th!!

All these years ,,Our reunions have been done by a girl in my cl***,,,Karen Davis & Her hubby Bob,,with help from several other kids in our cl***,,,they have a monthly get together too for the kids still living around there ,,i guess if you want a 10 year ,,you gotta do it yourself ,,
the kids in the cl*** of '61 are spread out all over the world ,,and most make it to the Reunions ,,

Glad you decided to have this again. Matt and I had a blast last year and plan on attending again this year, even if it is just for the pork sandwiches! September 18 should work for us.

The gravel is only an 1/8 mile. I drove my car last year and just went real slow on it. And when I got home an old timer told me a traditional way to clean the car up- soap and water!
