This is a 3-day event held in Orange County Ca. I believe this was their 28th year and I think I've been going just as long? Alot of HAMB'rs dont like this show cause it IS a goldchainer Street Rod / muscle car event. But that dont stop me it is by far my favorite show of the year! Lots of nice rides and things to do. Not to mention the BEAUTIFUL weather we had! started off we met up with my friend Mark (MARK 1955 on the HAMB) and we cruised the wheels off his old p-cup then we were able to barrow this old beater and gave my son some lessons in cruising (thanks Linda) does he look happy? ran into R COLE out cruising. Told him I would make him famous. Here your 15 minutes R Lots of g***ers running around uncorked
lots of cruisin lots of Caddis andI loves me some CAddis and a bunch of others you may enjoy 014.jpg[/IMG]
I was there again this year , and as usual , a good cross section of cars and people . All in all a fun weekend hang'n out with friends .
Thanks Lance...great weather..lots of cars...Hope it continues! The ride in the caddy...you guys sure looked good!
Thanks for the pictures. I have made most of them but missed this year. I always liked this event for the diversity of cars and spectators.
Attendance was definately down, 3 years ago (the last one I took a car to) you couldnt find a parking spot, this year I got there Sat eve and there was PLENTY of parking spots
This event has had some changes. The car count was down from the last time I brought a car (2007), but it looked to be up since I went as a spectator (2008). I think think there is a new team people running the show and it seemd to be building up again. I like this show because: 1) Cruising!! Cars in motion!! 2) I can camp with my family. I think this show has suffered in recent years because of the 1-day Cruisin' for a Cure Show later in the month, same place. I know some will pick one or the other. I do feel it is swinging back towards GLC. Cruising for a Cure allows all vehicles --> too many PT cruisers and MINIs. I'm going "For Shore" next year!!
Car count was up from last year - slightly. "Jeff" White told me right at 1500 cars. They have had some issues over the years, starting with Ruby who used to deal with the vendors and was fired during the show a couple years back, but by then the damage had been done and I think it has been tough getting the big guys back. It was good to see MagnaFlow there, maybe that will entice some of the others to come back. The same folks have been the main ones running it for years but some of the other players have changed. Her is my thread on the show as well http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=509842
Great pics. I was there as well. I was working the autocross again this year and my company had a vendor booth (AAA). Great turn out and perfect weather.
Man, you have ruined the young man with that smokin Caddy. Zingo! Nuthin like cars in motion and what a superb variety. Thanx for the sweet pix. ~Sololobo~
The straight axle Nova broke a rear axle at Irwindale Drags a few weeks later. Was a racing axle, but he sheered the flange right off...
