Dead-on the money, and if we could just drop the mis-used and much abused term "gasser" in most cases, and substitute "street freak", a LOT of old guys would be a LOT happier. We could even delete the part about build quality, so it wasnt stigmatized.

98% percent of the cars that are being called "gassers" right now are actually more influenced by '70s street freaks. All you have to do is dig out old magazines and take a look at the cars that are actually running in the gas classes in the mid-sixties and look at the photos, then do the same but look for street cars from circa '68-'73.

  7. my 56 isnt a gasser period, and Im proud of the fact its a STREET FREAK,it was built in a time (70s) when this was the look on many streets and the gassers were the influence, but if someone ever says my car is like a ratrod to my face Ill knock their teeth out! Our cars are mostly finnished and maybe over the top but not a POS ratrod like thing.FYI my 56 is safe and handles great at highway speeds and ok in the curves,,,,,,,,,

I dont see anything in my post where I have put any negative connotation on the term "street freak", actually I have said just the opposite. FYI, Try actually READING what I post.

Did I miss something? I do not see the word "rat rod" in anything I typed? As I have already posted, I even put in something about removing the references to "build quality" from the post I quoted.

I guess I wont end up on your jury, but you may wanna take your own advice.

Maybe not. The way I read it is that ratrods are to hot rods what Street Freaks are to Gassers. That is, they are both over the top versions of the originals.
I didn't read it as Street Freaks = Ratrods.
