Well i had my flathead running the other day, and it was running really well. Ran into some pinging so i dropped the initial timing down a bit. Got it set, and gave it a quick blip of the throttle and POP! Great, what now? Pulled the plugs and it was still 155-160 on the first 4, then nothing on the last 2. Pulled the head and found this.... Put just a little hole in it so no big deal. Went down to the local national autoparts, and they had a nice felpro gasket in stock. Reinstalled the head and torqued first at 35, then 70, then ran the motor and got it hot and then to 75. We're back in buisness
Yes, the ole motas could do dat. Todays so called motors .............. Humm can ya'all say instant overhaul ? scrubba
For thin areas like between the combustion chambers I like to use Indian Head Gasket sealant...the ****'s tough as nails and will hold those thin strips of gasket material in their place long after the rest of the motor gives up the ghost...I also give a little dab around water ports too, just to keep them from ******* fluids into my cylinders...
