a boner, El Mirage is for racers. LARS is for showing off. The June and July meets
traditionaly have lowish attendance as a lot of guys are getting ready to go race at Bonneville. But to refer to El Mirage as "weak" is an insult to all those who race there. If you are referring to El Mirage as "weak" for show cars then you hit the nail on the head. Its a race meet. If shiny cars sitting still doing absolutely nothing is your thing then El Mirage is not for you.

 

EASY EASY!!!!! I tried to capture everything I could while I was there! Cars,Racecars,Bikes,and the atmosphere....
It's all part of the experience...

OK Now that we've decided race cars belong at races and show cars belong at shows, lets do a meet up at 6 on Sat eve for those that are there and camp HAMB will be open all weekend so come by and sign the banner and BS.

 

Hey what is that truck in the background of your third picture? That's pretty cool looking. I'm in the market for a small flat bed truck to tow my race car.

 

I spent the majority of the time in the swap meet & prefered parking (non-show car area) at the Roadster Show because I don't really care for show hot rods, I like just plain hot rods.
Because of all the racers "getting ready to go race at Bonneville", and the lack of spectator hot rods, I have to say that my El Mirage experience was WEAK. Lots of racers and lots of spectators were not there= WEAK.

I guess for anyone that has never attended El Mirage, from what you say, should expect the June and July meet to be in my words "WEAK"!

Land speed racing isn't really much of a spectator sport. Spectators are always welcome, but the folks racing there are there to race, they don't give much thought to pleasing onlookers.

Sounds like you have a little complex about your pics Bob. That is one of best things about El Mirage ..... No Scene !!! Not many people there to see the "Atmosphere" it is all about RACING. I know that bums some people out but there are plenty of carshows for those people.

Rats! My little doggie Sydney needs to have surgery to remove a benign tumor from her abdomen this week, so I will have to stay home and care for her this weekend. I gotta take care of my little one.

No complex here! There's a big difference between Bonneville and El Mirage. Besides,it was my first time to Bonneville and I wanted to capture everything. Next year will be a different deal. I like El Mirage alot....Just racing!!! There's alot more going on at Bonneville. You seem to criticise quite a bit,for someone I haven't seen at either event,haha!

 

Lance, If everything holds together. Maybe, just maybe. The salt gods smiled on me this year. If I can get the dirt gods to do the same I'll be good.

I can't race this weekend because of mechanical issues but I was thinking of coming out anyway to be a spectator for a change. I think it's a good time, dirt and all, I wouldn't call it "Weak" but then again I'm a car guy.

 

It might be enjoyable without all the stress???????
