hey guys, i'm wanting to do a dual carb/offy intake on my 50' p/u project and was going to rebuild the stock carb(s). i found a decent carb from a 69' 250 and was wondering if that is the same carb as my 292(68'), i dont have both of them here to compare so was hoping for some input from you guys.thanks in advance.
i was wrong, i do have both carbs here and i checked them over, they are physically identical, i didnt open them up but everything else is the same,is there a # somewhere that will tell me if they are the same? i could be wrong about the engine being a 250, i got it from the pick n pull so i could go back and get a casting # to see what engine it is? are the 250 and 292 carbs physically different?both of the ones i have are rochester monojets.
Measure the throat (bore) size an and the venturi size. This should tell you if they are compatable. Rochester made alot of different carbs. I went with Carter/Webers from Langdons Stovebolt and couldn't be happier!! Todd
The motor mount holes in the 292 block are in a different location on the right , p***enger, side than the 250 is. It is offset to the rear I believe ,more than the 250.
...quickest way to rell a 292 is the fuel pump is in the center of the block from front to back of engine; also 292's use a byp*** hose up on the thermostat housing, smaller sixes don't.
Carb bolt pattern/flange bore on 292/250, are identical. I'm running three Rochester Monojets on my 292. No issues whatsoever.
