Famed test pilot Chuck Yeager inside the car while one of his buddies gives him a push. That coupe was passed around by the test pilots at Edwards AFB back in the day. Many fighter squadrons had similar "hacks" that were used by the pilots, often painted with gaudy markings similar to their aircraft but not always.

 

This is a photo from around 1960 of the car that I saved the poor remains of 10 years ago. The guy on the photo was the owner. He was in the Norwegian army by that time. Unfortunately he died 4 years ago.

 

look at the wheels, they are 36 wide five!
