I am in the final final final final final final etc stages of sanding the roof of my '34 p/u and it has occured to me that new dents must be evolving as I am working on it. Has anyone else discovered this phenomenom (WOW I think I spelled that right )

Magical invisible hail is hitting your roof, that is my best guess.

Probably used as a work vehicle at one point, unlike new trucks, and probably had stuff stacked/hauled/dropped/etc.. on it's roof. I bet the box/bed was no cream puff either!

Ya kidding right? Back in the day...and I'm not talking the 20's here....picks were used as work horses....pulling down branches, yanking things out with rope, too light f chain...loading thing in the bed that extend over to roof, man, the probablities are endless.

It's not like now, where you buy a truck and keep it nice and shiney, "in the day" and dependng n why it was bought, no thought to keeping the body panels starght was a concern.

Heck, I'll bet noone said "pickup" for 60 years...it was"truck", and used as such.

when I look at old trucks to buy I always look for stake trucks because for the most part the***** was contained in the back better than PU's plus most of the time the beds need to be replaced so it is not much of an added cost when buying.

I live in the woods, lots of pine and oak trees... One year the acorns were BIG ... left lots of dents in the hood and roof of my 87 Ford PU (truck is gone now...)

Overloading a pickup or truck is more traditional than pickups or trucks!:D

Most in Kansas had farmers standing on the roof or stuff hauled on the roof. You could always tell when it was a older mans truck, too old to get up on the roof=nice roof.

The factory put them in there to add strength to the otherwise flat sheet metal roof, then used a special primer that had high fill properties to level it out. Now look what you have done by removing that high fill primer. Looks like you have to start all over again, Damn what a shame.

My 37 Chevy p/u had more dents in the back of the cab (flatbed and the side racks were in the barn instead of on the truck) then dents on the roof but there were a couple that needed attention.

I believe it has to do with the UFO phenomenon, and when they***** a transmission all the parts mysteriously land on old trucks. Found a Spacely Sprocket AND a Cogswell Cog stuck in mine.

Keep both hands on the block. The palm of your unused hand can make new dents fairly easily on large, flat areas.
