i cant even watch footage anymore, it upsets me too much. what happened to all the american flags that were flying around , on cars, on houses, on t-shirts during the aftermath? i really felt that we were UNITED. that was rad. too many people have forgotten and that really sucks. i will never forget, ever.

I live about 10 miles out of NYC, as the crow flies, and on a gorgeous clear day like today, which is absolutely a duplicate of the weather on Tuesday, 9/11/2001, you can see the skyline from a raised park next door to my house, it's amazing the emotions that have come over me, my family, friends, neighbors, etc. today, especially to have the NY TV stations on with Memorial services on all, please dedicate your thoughts today to all of those who have loved, and lost, to the troops who continue to serve on our behalf, and to to all of America! God Bless!!!

We have a Pearl Harbor day....why not a 911 day, nationally recognized?

I remember the way everyone did the most they personally could in the aftermath of the attacks, and how some very ordinary people performed extraordinary service in the line of duty...and then well beyond what might be thought of as merely duty.

Also, the outpouring of support from the international community, allies, former allies, even countries critical of the U.S., all grieving with us and wanting to help in our time of need.

If you can go today and not shed a tear thinking about what happened, how many died and how it changed the world we live in and the sacrifice that others make everyday for our freedom them maybe you should take a few minutes and re-evalute your life.

9/11 is remembered by all, many tri-staters. I remember being at work that day, listening to Z100 and hereing a plane hit the building. I was like, damn thats a messed up joke, come on Z100. I then saw a tv and saw the live footage. My heart dropped. I luckily got in touch with some friends that worked in the city as well. Man of which worked in the wall street area. I met them in midtown and we walked home to queens. Longest walk of my life. I couldnt believe what happened and seeing the fear and look on the faces in the streets. I was able to see the towers from my home. I still look for them and in complete denial when driving back home.
I am pissed at the overwhelming amount of money and time it is taking to build a memorial site. Too many hands in the pot.
    Stay strong USA!
Thank you to all of the troops, firefighters and police that fight for our freedom and well-being. Your lives will never be forgotten

Today is the same day weather wise as 9/11/2001, it is clear and crisp blue skies, and I walk out my door to go to work that day looked up and said to myself what a day , what could go wrong on a day like today, I have never said that to myself again since then. I live on Long Island about 15 miles from the city but you could still see the towers in certain spots, my father was a train dispatcher for the PATH lines and he worked at the WTC he died many years before 911 but when ever I looked at the towers I would smile thinking of him, I will never forget that day, all you heard were sirens from emergency trucks heading toward the city, I have not been able to go near lower Manhattan since that day.

  20. Besides the jumpers this photo really hit home. This woman was on the 87 floor waving for help. Can't imagine the fear she must have been feeling at the time. Being afraid of heights myself can't imagine standing that close to the edge.

She was later identified by her husband from the video. Terrible to see your loved one in that situation. I just think of my wife in that situation and just shudder.

    Poor people.

9/11 was one of those watershed moments in our history, my generation's Pearl Harbor. My older relatives can tell me with a great degree of detail where and when they were on December 7, 1941. My parents can tell me to the same degree of detail where they were when President Kennedy was assassinated. And 9 years later I remember 9/11 like it happened yesterday. I have no doubt that if I live to be old, I'll be able to tell my grandkids.

The terrorists may have demolished the WTC and given our country a black eye, but they couldn't break our resolve. God bless those who left us 9 years ago

Guys, please, please, please......keep name calling and arguing out of this. Please remember the dead and the thousands of selfless acts of bravery and kindness that have been reported and those that will never be known. Remember the stories of courage from those who knew they would likely die, but still found time to help their fellow man out of the towers.

Remember the passengers that took fate into their own hands and refused to sit in their seats and would rather crash the plane into the ground rather than fly into a building killing even more.

Remember those in the Pentagon who helped their co-workers out of the inferno.

Forget name calling, forget the politics of hate and remember this is a story of America and a story of humanity.

    Well said.

  24. Dont ever forget. Terrorism is real and terrorists are very real. There are so many in the world that would love to see us fall as a country. God Bless all of those who have fought in the past and present to defend all of those who call the United States of America home. Remember this day when enemies have tried to steal our freedom and took so many nine years ago.

  25. I was a senior in High school, I was late to first period that day as usual.....I walked into class and the t.v. was on, playing the footage. I still remember the faces of my classmates.....tears streaming down their cheeks. The feeling of shock and dread can still be dredged up all these years later...all it takes is to remember walking into that room.

May the ones who lost there lives that day and all the service men and women who have lost there lives since. God bless you and may you rest in peace.

    DON'T EVER FORGET

    Doc,

I just want to thank you for your service and for being a friend to the US in a time of need. God bless you and your comrades and may your fallen brothers rest in peace.

Terrorism is purely a synthetic tool weilded by men in power to make unconstitutional policy changes and to keep the public in fear.

Never forget the thousands that died for no reason and the disheartening way the US government did nothing to actually investigate what really happened by carting away and recycling all Trade Tower building evidence before a proper and thorough investigation of the rubble could be performed.

I keep opening this thread in the hope of finding out what most of you guys who call the U.S.A. home were doing at that particular moment? Can anyone remember? I'd like to hear some genuine stories and heartfelt thanks to the Law Enforcement agencies and of course the firefighters but not most of the narrowminded crap that's been written so far.
