http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=0&nid=443&tab=list/view&ad=3109338 I actually don't know much about Auburn or Franklin, but this car seems to have a neat pedigree... I just found the ad on the local KSL cl***ifieds. Maybe you guys know more about this car. I think it should be left as is.
That's actually pretty kick-***. Nothing I could afford, but it doesn't seem outrageous for what it is.
Read the ad-it tells how this guy built this car in NJ back in the '50s, and what parts he used. The body is an Auburn, ch***is is Franklin, and he got shunned at the Franklin car shows back in his day.
Jimmy B, my reply wasn't personal...I was just telling everyone to check out the ad. And I agree, it seems to be more of a custom.
No worries here! good video <object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kKiRZqt2i9M?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kKiRZqt2i9M?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object>
Guys it's simple. The car is telling all of us what it wants to be!!! Very simple, get it back as close as possible to what the guy that originally built it wanted it to be! He obviously was a pretty cool designer with a great eye, and a grasp of what goes together. Also, he obviously liked the Coach craft late 40's style, and some hot rod too. The car in my opinion, should be restored to it's original builder's idea. Just my 2 cents, and hey what a cruise nite car!!!!!! Regards to all and thanks for sharing. Tony
A really nice job of combining the '28 Auburn speedster body with a '36 Stude grill and '35-36 Cadillac fenders. A Franklin wouldn't have been my first choice for an engine and ch***is but it sure makes it (even more) unusual and definitely neat now! If I had the money (yeah right), I'd buy it, restore it to it's former glory ....and then drive the wheels off it.....and to hell with what the Franklin and Auburn snobs would think of it! that is sweet, and he keeps it at the airport ,see looks like it could!! i really like the windshield frame, just might be my winter project for my 50 caddy!
I never was much into the boattail type cars, but this one is growing on me. I hope someone buys it and restores it back to it's glory days. The original builder was a true hot rodder.
There are more attractive customs, but very few as cool as that! I actually think it is a nice design, and has an incredible presence. Kind of like a woman who is not super pretty - but not off putting, is a bit older but has a sense of humour, has some extra padding, but in good places and is to the discerning eye ***y as hell. Not sure if this car should be restored or left in it's current state, but it is cool.
Yep, that would be a great one to put back to the original concept. It has the lines of a cl***ic if it was cleaned up a bit and treated right.
I really like it-though the rear end doesn't come together as well as the front. If hotrods were built to go faster and customs to change their looks, then I'd say this is a custom. But, no doubt, the builder had the hot rod spirit-fitting available parts together to produce a unique, and better whole. I hope it gets restored back to it's original condition
