Have been before and will be in 2011, but wont make it this year. Be sure to stop at the Redland museum. Also bring warm clothes, even on a mild day the wind off the lake can be cold. Its always a good time with plenty to do.

    You will have a blast!!!!

  7. I'll be down there....gassed up and ready to go. I am bringing my 32 and pulling my teardrop. I just picked up the tear two weeks ago in NY and this will be the first time pulling it with the flatty. I have a few extra gear sets with for the QC rear, I am going to run 3.19's on the way down and see how it pulls and change if needed.

Pouring rain here now so hope we get a break this afternoon.

Might be a little easier with a flathead or an inline. I'm telling you, your SBC is just a fad - it will never last

  11. Pictures anyone?

Very impressive showing up there. Your pix are amazing and the slide show is a blast. Thanx for taking time to show us the event. Looked for my pal Ron's beautiful 58 Ford Currier, but no luck, I bought my 56 Plymouth from him up there a while back. Thanx again. ~Sololobo~

It was a great show ! My first time there and I will be back. I already made reservations for next year again in the camp ground. I drove my 36 3W with my teardrop trailer. My wife had a great time doing the 'womens' deal while I saw some awesome garages. Food, organization, and hospitality was outstanding. I even made a few new friends.....

We also had a good time there and we sold my wife's Nash Metropolitan, now I have some money for a Fairlane.
The garage tours are allways good at this show, there is a high ratio of gearheads in that town.

  18. I looked at your Nash and it looked like a hell of a deal for the price you had on it.....congrats on the sale.

  19. I made it up there just for Saturday afternoon and visited Randy Gribble at his shop and met with some old friends of my parents that live in Waterton but I ran out of time to do much else and see more people or cars. Since it was my wife's last day at work I had to get back home for her retirement party that evening. It looked like a great weekend with the usual great turnout and hospitaity by the Vintiques. I was sorry to see the remains of Kevin Gribbles big old Chevy truck that got wrecked the previous week when some bonehead pulled out in front of him on Highway 81. I'm glad Kevin wasn't hurt.

Thanks for the good words, guys. Shooting photos is just one of my bad habits - eating up space on digital memory cards is lots of fun!
I think I saw your car - told Erik to pay particular attention to it, 'cuz if he ever buys a winning lotto ticket he'll owe his old man one just like that!
Wow... hadn't heard anything about that accident. Talked to Barb for a few minutes Saturday and she never mentioned anything about it. Though it's been a few years since I'd been to that run, the best part does seem to be checking out the shops and re-connecting with people you haven't seen in awhile. I've gotten to know quite a few of the Vintiques members over the years - we made it to quite a few of their earlier runs. Great crew.

  23. Ouch! Whats the story on Kevins truck?

  24. Kevin was coming back into Watertown on Highway 81 by the casino when a 71 year old guy in a borrowed car stopped at the stop sign and then pulled out in front of him. All Kevin could do was lock up the brakes and hit him. He slid a ways before he hit the passenger side rear of the car. He had the big 5th wheel trailer on behind that was full of the automotive supplies that he sells out on the road so he can't stop on a dime. What's really crazy is that on the other side of the intersection was a SD Highway Patrolman that had the entire thing recorded on his dashcam video. The patrolman was recorded saying "STOP!! STOP!! STOP!! NO, GO!! GO!! GO!! and then you see Kevin's truck slide by as it hits the car and spin it around and the car then hits the Highway Patrolman's car! The guy wasn't hurt too bad and Kevin was sore the next day but OK. They figure he must been distracted and was looking at the Highway Patrolman instead of up the road because Kevin said the guy never even looked his way before he pulled out. There have been several people killed at that intersection because the these people seem to have gambling fever when they get close to the casino and pull out right in front of the traffic on Highway 81. What really killed Kevins truck was that it slid off to the side because he lost his steering from hitting the car and flew 5' in the air off the road approach and the 5th wheel trailer just drilled the truck into the dirt in the ditch bending the frame badly and tearing the rear end loose from it. Kevin said it is totaled and he doesn't want to even try to rebuild it because it took 6 years to build it. Plus he is out of business until they can get him another truck. The trailer is OK but it bent the 5th wheel pin and left a big mess inside the trailer. Now it is in the other guys insurance company's hands to make things right. Its really a bad deal because Kevin put a lot of work into building that truck just the way he wanted it for his business and now its gone. It really makes you wonder about driving your little hot rod when someone can't see a big bright red truck with flames on it coming down the road.

  25. Sorry I missed you. I wish I could have made it out to the park and seen all you guys too.

  26. Bummer, I remember hearing aout the truck and seeing pictures in the past. Kevin is a good guy, glad he is ok.
