I wonder where this car is now... Anyone know? I love everything and anything about Harolds Club. Growing up my parents would leave me upstairs to play the arcade while they gambled and played the older machines. I loved the gun collection too. At one time Howard Hughes Owned Harolds Club. Any and all info on the whereabouts of this wonderful car please PM me or email me at skrach@vividlyvintage.com

I had the same experience. Our mom and dad would do the same. When we were real young we lived in Stockton and then in Quincy (late 50s)...The trips from Quincy were more frequent.
My dad worked for Western Pacific RR.

A side note: Around 1969 my friend and I were visiting Reno. We were walking down one of those downtown alleys (they used to be pretty nice) when 2 plain clothed security guys chased a guy out the back door of Harold's club, they ran around the corner towards the tracks. The guy being chased was on his way over a short chain link fence at the tracks when they shot him...

Mental note: Don't fuck around in Reno.

Eva Marie Saint from Hitchcock's "North by Northwest" (circa 1959). Great film! Great shot.

  8. I got goosebumps seeing that jacket... I inherited my Uncles A2 but I couldn't fit into it after I got out of Basic!

Apparently the average crew member on a B17 weighed 120 lbs.!

My dad weighed right at 120lbs. during the war years. He was a gunner in the top turret in a B24, I guess that maybe fast food has fattened us up a little.

Size had a lot to do with air crew selection, it was pretty cramped in those bombers. Plus, the lighter the crew the more fuel and munitions they could carry. The smallest guy usually had the dubious honor of getting assigned to the ball (belly) turret.

I saw the movie "The Long Long Trailer" when I was a kid and always remember the scene when the trailer hitch was installed. Sparks were flying all over the place. For some reason that made an impression on me. I had a chance to watch the movie again a few months ago and noticed that when they shot the scenes on the steep and narrow mountain road a 53 Lincoln Convertible had been substituted for the Merc. shown here. The Merc was in most of the rest of the movie. Guess the flathead couldn't handle the load in that scene so they went with the Lincoln instead.

    For those that don't know what an F 82 is, it's a siamesed P 51 (how P51 + P 51 = F 82 is beyond me.

This is movie shot from a rail car starting from a town close by; Marion, Ohio. In many ways it's amazing how many things still look similar. I wonder how many Model A's were wiped out by these trolleys.

  19. The guy in the drivers seat here is Anthony Eisley. Troy Donahue was the blond guy in the Surfside Six picture. CrazyAboutTv.com is a little mixed up with their information I guess.

It still rates high on my list of favorite movies, even with this minor error.

The car switch was not too uncommon, especially in the "serials", E.G. The Phantom in serial form that would be shown each week before the main feature.
It's a real eye-opener to get some of those old serials on DVD and watch them again. :).
