As I drive a front motor top fuel car (when we can afford to run it) I decided that I needed a '70's style retro looking helmet to go with the car. In the past I have painted all of my own helmets but as my primary business is now fabrication I gave Josh Shaw the helmet a few weeks ago and also gave him a basic idea of what I wanted. He came up to Indy on Saturday and brought the helmet with him and this is what he came up with.
It has all the retro themes, fish scales, fade aways, freak drops and gold and silver leaf along with plenty of striping. The green and gold colors are those used by Australia's national sporting teams (Olympics, rugby, cricket etc) and were also used on Jack Brabham's world championship winning grand prix cars in the mid/late 60's.
