This Saturday we would like to acknowledge friends in the Albuquerque area who have attended or participated with our shows and events, with free hot dogs, drinks, music and raffle prizes. No general admission. Location will be at Mild to Wild on 3rd and Summer 11- 5 pm. -Noel
Also tonight, (for motorcycle enthusiasts), a club brother from NYC should be passing through Albq. with the vintage cannonball bike event. He is doing some film work and they should be in town after 5:30 or so. If anyone wants to hangout and see cool vintage bikes, cal me at: 505-243-7478. Hopefully I can provide more details. -Noel
Fella's, can't be there this time cause I'm in Cali, but I still cherish the bitchen trophy (welded dice "best beater") you all gave me for driving my shoebox down from Taos to one (if not the first) of the early shows. Still got the shoebox, still appreciate you guys!! Have fun. Cheers, Johnny (johnny and the blades)
Location of most cannonball run bikes tonight if anyone is interested (pre 1920's): Quality Inn Hotel located on Hotel Ave. just east of Eubank off Lomas. -Noel
Hey Noel... Had a great time at this Rumblers event in Albuquerque today. Was nice to meet a few new folks in the hot rod world. Posted some photos.. http://www.pbase.com/nmsandrail/albuquerque_rumblers_appreciatio Hope to attend some future car events there... THANKS to ALL!... duane (NM Sandrail)
Duane, thank you for coming over, it was one of hopefully a few more events like this. This town has some great rods and customs, so we would like to see them out more often hopefully to swap ideas and discuss future events specific to traditional hot rods and customs. We are going to begin planning a route in the near future for a run. It will be something I think everyone will enjoy. -Noel / Rumblers cc / Albuquerque.
Hey Noel, You mentioned a possible run someday... Sounds really great to me. This was my first event that I went to here in New Mexico, outside of a Swap Meet in Cruces.. (Used to live there...'92-99) I have been spending a lot of time up in Kansas and Missouri, with the Salina KKOA Leadsled Spectacular, the HAMB Drags at Joplin, Greaserama in KC, the Starliner in Wichita, and sure wish I could hit many more...like Ardmore Drags...Good Guys @ the KC race track. But I went to something last April that I really enjoyed... No Surf in Abilene, KS does this Mid-West HAMB BBQ, and is great!... About a 50-75 mile run after meeting for breakfast, taking in some special place, and back to Abilene for a big BBQ in the park there, and movies on the side of his barn in the country. He has it set up where those who want to attend and camp out, can use his yard Friday and Sat nights... Check out these photos... http://www.pbase.com/nmsandrail/hamb_bbqabilene_ks Just something to think about... Out here, maybe a Saturday day trip in October to Trinity Site (open 2 times a year) and hamburgers at the Owl Cafe nearby. So much neat stuff we have here in New Mexico... Thanks again, duane (NM Sandrail)..
when i was with the roaddevils, i would always tell them that a reliability run would be cool for new mexico. we could maybe start at the sandia casino and end up in the jemez mountains. it would be a nice 2 lane highway for most of the trip, and have awesome scenery, but they never listened. maybe twice a year one at the begining of the season, and one at the end when all the leaves are changing in that area. but... what do i know, ive only been going to car shows since i was in pampers everyone just wanted a big show, and thats it, but never realized how long it would take for a show to get as big as the rumbler show.
I hear you guys... I'm no expert, but it does take work and appreciation for what we have. I believe it can happen here in Albq. It'll take some work but it can happen. A lot of sweat equity and constant persistence for the right reasons can go a long way. We have many talented individuals here in this town, so the possibility always exists. Respects! -Noel
