  4. Had a Magna Flux just like that one at the first shop I worked in. Looks like a 216 chevy crank.

Came back from Catalina on one of those sea planes. As we boarded the aisle had above 4" of water. Got a little nervous. The pilot said no problem. It took quite a bit of power or so it sounded like to get off the water. Once in the air all seem ok. The water drain out somewhere. Landed in Long Beach with a very smooth landing compared to the takeoff, bumpy as hell.

Like many folks had tons of fun on the island. Anyone remember the Grand Prix M/C races that where held there?

The HAMB editors are pretty darn strict usually. Posts just need to relate to the hotrod movement -- which became a real tradition -- that evolved after WWII, AFTER all the early, disjointed and individual efforts prior to that. I haven't seen them slap down anyone, though, for posting material about national (or world) history WHEN it helps to frame the TIMES in which automobiles evolved.

Cars and trucks (and their predecessors) have been a major part of the FABRIC of history. So, the HAMB editors seem to be somewhat tolerant, so long as we all keep in mind that we're recreating, bringing to life, that socio-economic picture, through ALL these posts that (as Mazooma said) we all dig so hard to find and share.

I've seen the editors crack down on people who use bad judgement, and I am SURE that they'll let us all KNOW if they think we get too broad -- or irrelevant -- in scope. Surely, this thread meanders now and then, but it always comes back to hopped-up cars, pre-1966. And WWI and WWII aeronautical engineering had a ton to do with the technologies that produced most of the engines we all love to see in rods, right?

Somebody correct me if I am off base, but I feel the broad theme set down just months ago by Dog427 has made for one stimulating and provacative thread. After all, how the hell ELSE would you get a bunch of hard-core hotrod nuts to seriously kick around HISTORY, both the cars and the times in which they were built??? LOL

This thread is one of the reasons I always say, "God BLESS the HAMB!" (And THANKS, Dog.)
