It would've been nice to give Royalshifter the honor of bringing this up to page 1000.

Ah well. Thanks for a great thread mate.

Agreed, Royalshifter started the most awesome thread I've ever seen on any web site, period.
This is an incredible historic reference point.
There are so many people who have contributed, with so much knowledge about the subject here, it is just staggering.
I wish there were some way to gather and pop a cork with Royalshifter to celebrate what he's begun here. I know it will continue as well. This is just another milestone in this thread's history. There's more to come, I'm sure.
    Royalshifter, thank you so much!
I love drag racing. My family got involved in it when I was just nine years old. I'm 56 now, and it has been the love of my life. I wish I had a picture of my Dad to post here, he's the one who got my brother and I started racing, because he didn't want us street racing. He only drove the race car on Father's day (and he was good, a natural). Here's to you too, Dad...oh, actually he is in the family portrait above. That picture, standing in front of our AWB hemi injected car (the former "Black Arrow") is the one and only family portrait we ever did. The family that races together stays together!

This really has been an awesome thread. Given that it started less than 3 years ago ( 12-12-2007, 05:19 PM), 20,000 posts is really amazing! My Gas-FX email group is now closing in on 24,000 posts...but it started in September 1998, 12 years ago!

  13. 1000 pages!!!

A big thanks to all who have contributed.

What an awesome thread - Gotta love the HAMB.

I used up the better part of a 5 day vacation to get through it all about a year ago. And that was back when there were only 600 or so pages. I can't imagine anyone who wants to walk though ti today. Well worth their while if they are an enthusiast.

I'm up to 124 bookmarks for pages that contain my favorite pictures and inspirational cars.

Here's a few more of our family's first drag cars. The pic with the blue altered was taken at Fresno, I'm the stud with no shirt on. The Crosely on the trailer was my Dad's first purpose built car. The red altered was the next car in line. This pic was taken at Sacramento, as well as the wheelie pic.

The name Hellzapoppin' shows up on a bunch of different stuff. From Lindy Hop movies to WWII bombers and tanks to TF cars and freak shows. I'm liking this early 70's version from Australia. Other than the name I know nothing about it. Anybody?...

AHRA Nationals, Green Valley, 1965. We beat Art Malone here in eliminations. Our 383 small block went 7.43 for low time before eliminations. Glenn - in Louisiana

It seems that the engineering of the day was get some parts and put them together without fore thought. If you needed something extra like steering just find some more pieces and add them. What an era.
