So I haven't been on in a really long time, school, lack of a job, other bs excuses have kept me from doing anything with cars. Anyway I just scored this for 450 bones. It is very ROUGH it needs a bit of everything. I know this is going to be a slow going project so bear with me on this one. BTW has anyone ever seen an early ranchero with an early comet clip?

I can't remember seeing a Ranchero done before, but I remember a guy going the other way, putting a falcon front end on a Comet wagon. I'm sure in the car world it's been done though.

I think it's a cool idea. I think you should hunt down the Comet wagon tail lights and tailgate trim, etc. and go with it.

  4. Looks like a great deal, there's one here on Craigslist in Northern Va listed right now for $2500 check it out, looks like it could be a neat piece with a little work. Good Luck.

    Pretty cool...tell everyone it's a factory Canadian Merc-ero.

How about "Comanchero"? There was a really cool looking '65 Ranchero with a '65 Comet front clip on Craigslist a couple of years ago.

looks like a good swap, will be interested to see the end result. like the idea of the comet wagon rear treatment too.

That'll look neat once you've mastered it, i can't wait to see it done, these ranchero's (utes / utility vehicles) respond well to customising.

They built early falcons in argentina from 62-92 they have multible and interesting grill and tailight setups that were changed to suit each era.

There was a bloke featured in a aussie magazine a quite a few years back who swapped a 59/60 edsel grill into a 60 falcon, he even used the Speedo setup and steering wheel, to be honest it looked factory and just like a scaled down Edsel.

I just got some time to pull off the front end and take out the interior and I found a few rough spots.
It seems it may have gotten hit in the past.

I know its all not too bad but dose anyone have any advice on repairing the damage to the inner fender and the p***enger side shock brace?

This "Comanchero" was for sale a few years ago in SoCal.

In addition to the rare Comet two door wagon stainless, the truck also had the complete Comet dash and chrome trim in the interior. V8 powered and converted to a five lug suspension, I still kick myself for not purchasing it when I had the chance.

If I ever build a Comanchero, the incredible two door wagon built by HAMBER Kustom Komet definitely offers inspiration for the project.

Thats awesome!! I want to go 5 lug with disk brakes. I have a 200 that I'm getting ready to plug in it. Down the road I'd like to go either c-4 or a t-5 and a very mild turbo.

I kinda think it would have been cool if they would have made a merc version of the ranchero. I can see how it looks like a mini El Camino at some angles but its still cool.

Hello Eli got the carb boxed up! where is my spears! :D I would go to the vintage junk yard you took me too and pick up a new inner panel to replace the p***enger side. rust is not to extreme, my comet was worse I wish you luck :) p.s. do you have a welder?

I got a 220v mig with gas. I'm worried about cutting that inner panel as I'm not too sure if by doing that I might end up bending the car. I got the spears ready I'm just waiting till payday (friday) so ship them.

Cool! nice a big welder! i would cut and replace just keep the front jacked up behind the cowl and another under the front suspension (keep it level) and weld a brace from the radiator support to the cowl before cutting so that it will not bend when the sheet metal is cut. also i will give you my X dimensions of my engine bay to guide you to see if your strut tower is off any

Cool btw turn on your phone. Should I cut out the upper support that links the strut tower to the firewall as it is also bent.

I found the worst botched patch job on the rear driver quarter that I think I have ever seen I'll load pictures asap. I have been working on the inners I just need to clean the shop a bit so I can move the car in.

Thats on my with list right now. I am thinking of looking in the local yards for a bumper that I might be able to chop and weld to work for the time being though.
