Great find, look forward to more info on the deal.

  2. If you strike a deal, might as well grab that front clip in the background for it. Then it won't look like someone hacked the front wheels wells out like a stockcar.

  3. This doesn't look sectioned. Thank god.

What is the bodywork like?, is it leaded or fillered? Does it look like one of those bang it out mud it up jobs or is it metal finished. Could have very well been a customized a couple times and never finished on the last. What mill is it set up for? Trans? Rear? how about the insides, does it have a gm tilt column (yuk!!) Dropped spindles ect.... What's the dash like?? I cant believe the current owner has no history on it either

I'd be all over that like a pack of hounds on a 3 legged cat if i knew where it was.

I think it has a 51 merc dash, it does have a tilt column, and i think it has a GM front clip.

As far the metal work it looks professionally done with lead. but its covered in epoxy primer right now. The body looks super straight. :)

probably was gonna use the same taillights but sideways

  8. If the bodywork is decent, $800 would get you an "are you high on crack or something?" response, were I selling it. I know these are super common and all, but sectioned full on customs aren't.

But that said, I would go over it carefully before I dove in. I agree that it has a late clip or maybe even a whole late model frame - the front wheels and track are clearly too wide and if the front suspension compresses at all, the tires are gonna rub - the heavy radius on the fenders is probably an attempt to cure that - which makes all the work in the car a little suspect, as nice as it looks, how much filler and bad welding is hiding under that paint? How much h***le to fix it right if it's a butcher job? To me it looks like something that was never finished due to either loss of interest or the realization someone was in over their head and made too many mistakes to correct.

And you have another problem - what will you do for a rear window? Maybe they planned to fill the sides and use that window that sits in it... with it cut down you'll almost certainly have to make one somehow to keep the wraparound rear gl***. Not a deal-killer, but yet something else to think about.

Now if it comes with say that S10 that's behind it, and you could use that for a new clip or full frame swap, then you might have something. (the S10 front end should be narrow enough to work under there).

Those oval housings don't look like they're for any stock 49-51 light, but a '57 Pontiac, '59 Pontiac, or a number of other lenses would fill that hole pretty cleanly from the looks of them.

And if you do build it, pick up an AMT 50 Ford convert kit with the multiple custom options for inspiration -

Yea im hoping the old man isnt going to be outrageous about a price.
As far as a back gl*** i was thinking of using a front windshield from some other car or maybe making it a 3 piece rear gl***, but defiantly not using that small piece of gl*** thats on the back of it. And as far as a frame id either narrow the surrent frame or as you said pick up a s10 and make that work for it.

Thanks for all your info and knowledge!:D

Shoebox frames are out there and can be lowered to s****ing, (bags are for ***s) as for the rear gl*** i'd look for a stock piece of gl*** and cut it down and rework it to fit the opening. (ideally id get a nice one and a f'ed one for mockup) Cut it first tho because you cant bend gl***. And lastly, practice up O/A welding, and learn where MIG should be used instead, nothing has improved my bodywork more than learning O/A

BTW i'll probably see ya at the monroe swap meet, waive my down, i'm the longhaired 25 yr old hillbilly that'll be there all weekend, i think dynaflash will recognise me. I might be able to come up with parts for this too, i got a couple connections.....

Courageously COOL! I have visions of
    it finished - a candy-pearl and/or 'flake
paint job, with a sheen about foot deep,
rolled front and rear pans, a chrome
tube, bullet or tooth grill, chrome reverse
wheels with bullet centers and whitewalls
all around (with 8 inch wide 'piecrust' w/w
slicks on the back!), chromed lake pipes
down the sides ....and a chromed-up
6-2bbl Buick Nailhead, hooked up to a
4-speed Olds or Caddy hydro, under the
hood! Hey, a guy's *at least* allowed to
    dream, isn't he??? :D :D

Dont forget the hydromatic, ive wanted to put one in a custom forever, 4spd, with a LOW first

  15. Sweet looking find... hope you can pry it out of that bone yard. A word of caution on the hydro trannies (had one behind an old 331 Caddy motor) - they are stout (were designed for the M3 tank during WWII), but finicky. If the bands get *slightly* out of adjustment, or the fluid gets a little low, it shifts like a mule is kicking you in the ***. Good luck - and Marty is the right guy to help you thru the build!

I'm guessing NO show history...car was obviously under construction and the project was abandoned (for lack of a better word). Note that they were mocking up the small window gl*** for possible side filler pieces to be welded alongside, there's no evidence that there were EVER any taillight ***emblies in those well-made pockets, the grill has been started but never finished. As indicated by prior commentors...all the work appears to be top-notch and it would be very enlightening to find out who began this and why they stopped. Regardless, somebody HAS to acquire this car....make your own history.

Looks like a '50 to me, but those tailights had to be from something else, not originals, even sideways, they won't fit there.....Grab it if you can!!!

A car like this doesn't get built without someone knowing about it. There's gottta be a Hamber here with the story. Northwest car?

There is some history to this car. It was covered on the HAMB about a year or so ago
Someone else "found" it sitting in a fenced in area, obviously never got it out of there.
I'm sure a search for washington custom or something along those lines would stir up something
    GOOD LUCK

I dont know anything about the car, but it is a chopped and sectioned 51 Ford Victoria, not a Vicky roof grafted on a 49 or 50, as only 51 models had stainless trim on top of the doors..I knew I recognized it, though..It is in the same yard the Black Panther 49 Chevy was pulled out of by forum member Gup....Here's the pic......
