That name "W. G. Voliva" in the lower right corner seemed a bit unique. A quick Google search gave me his Wikipedia entry. Eeeek, but still an interesting photo. I didn't realize when I posted it, that sign had been local to me (in Zion, IL). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilbur_Glenn_Voliva

Great history, check out the story "$5,000 for Proving the Earth is a Globe (Oct, 1931)" in Modern Mechanics and Inventions. That guy was a nut and he reminds me of some of the nuts we have around in present times like our own "Glenn" Beck. Check out the ads in the back pages too, they are a hoot! Especially the one for "Protruding Ears"! I also like the "electric hot water heater" hooked up to your faucet. That could have given you a real jolt!

LOL! I know except, I don't know how old you are, but when I was 16 you wouldn't want to be caught dead in one of those things.

 

In regard to the Nashes, showing up at your girlfriend's house in one of those things was a great way to end up on her father's "Don't Come Back" list.

 

One of these mobile cinemas was restored recently. I saw it on a telly program about home movies.

I'd never seen ONE of these til two weeks ago at The Goodwood Revival herre in the south of England & here's Mr Fire putting up a pic of a line up of them!!!! I must speak to my Dad about these as this was his line of work builcing for the beeb & other tv companies & he may have built these!
