Some of the first string experts are at Hershey this week, so I'll try and respond now, hoping one of them will post more on this next week. I am not aware of any state requiring the change from RHD to LHD, but many US manufacturers made the change about 1912. For Packard, the change was in 1913 but only on their model 38. The model 48, introduced the year before, remained RHD. After that year, all their models were LHD except those exported to countries where RHD was the norm (England, Australia, etc.). I'm not sure you'll get the same answer from different folks on the reason for the change, and I don't have a solid one to offer. I've heard anecdotally that RHD allowed the driver to see the road's edge and ditch better, and by the time the switch was made, the number of cars on the road had so increased, the driver's focus was on maintaining a safe distance from oncoming vehicles, which was easier done with LHD. Probably this is covered in some books with better explanations (and more accurately!), but thought I'd take a stab at it. Glad you like the thread.

A very attractive Coke delivery truck from Los Angeles that I am guessing is from 1933-35. Who can tell us what make the truck is??

Check out the two tone paint and the polished accessory hood on this 1930-31 Model A.

T-Head, that" Coke Truck" is a Mack. If you look closely you can see the bulldog on the radiator shell.

Not sure what the car is, but that is the Bennington (VT) Battle Monument, completed in 1889.

It is quite ironic and a great "illustration" of the "changing times" from Horse to automobile.
