How popular were Maxwell cars back in the day? seems the name popped up quite a bit in my vintage photo searches.

it could just be I notice it more since I recently bought a plastic Maxwell pull toy from the 50's.

Jack Benny had one. LOL Actually, they were very popular and still are. I just checked the current Horseless Carriage Club Of America Directory and there is a page and a half listed, about 6 columns worth.

Courtesy of Don O'Brien on FlickR

Don took this photo in March of 1941 in Perry, Georgia. His typed data on the negative envelope he found in an old filing case says "View of old Maxwell in front of Standard Oil station. Graflex Super Panchro Press, developed DK-50." (He must have been into recording stuff back then.) He took a family trip through the south during spring break that year. His brother, then 12, is in the photo.

Jim, thanks for ID-ing this NAG car. Though a lot of guys are like you, it still seems to me that eight out of ten cars (pre-1930) go by on here without one word said to accompany the pic. Me, I'm pretty awful at 1920 and back, and I'm not too keen from 1930 on back. So, for my part, I'd surely appreciate it if the posters could either state the make & year, or at least give a WAG of their own. I think it would make the site (thread) far, far more valuable -- a resource, almost.

Benny actually DEMONSTRATING how damn good Maxwells
were! LOL (Yeah, it was a joke.)

Okay, okay, here is REALLY Jack Benny's Maxwell. There's
a crank up front, so it couldn't be too much after 1912?

Twin posted this . . . and I caught hell on the other thread for even
discussing a pic where a guy was holding his kid while smoking
    a cigarette -- in 1955! Where's the justice, I ask??? LOL

This photo is from a stereo view, but the date isn't right for the car. It's a Packard and while they used similar bodies for several years in that era, that type of cowl light was never used in '12 (or '13 for that matter). Back to the recent topic of when cars changed from RHD to LHD. You can flip this image so the car would appear as RHD, but in '13 when Packard introduced LHD on their model 38, the cowl lights were different from what you see here. The car is either a '14 or '15 Packard, but the photos says campaign of 1912. Either the publisher was wrong, or else the campaign lasted a long time!

No justice for Jimi, and to think that I posted the photo and you took the heat! That isn't you in this photo is it? The little guy looks like he's clutching a grenade...
