I have a 31 A, It has no floor in it at all, I have an A frame with the stock rear cross member it, I'm going to remove the rear cross member and ad a kick up and use coil overs. My question is should I build the sub floor on the body first so I can set it on the frame to get the proper measurements for the rear end placement? there's nothing on the body as of right now to even sit on the frame, are the body to frame mounts originally on the cross members? also do you guys use rubber mounts to mount the body to frame? sorry for all the Qs but I'm still a FNG thanx
Model A Fords originally used a set of sub rails that ran lengthwise, cross rails that went across and had channels for body blocks. There are two holes in front of the doors that mounted blocks and stamped angle shaped mounts on the out side of the frame rails for cowl mounts. If I was doing your car I would start with mocking it up to ride height and wheelbase so you can see how stuff will fit, build the frame accordingly, then set the body on where you want everything to be, and build a sub frame out of 1" x 1/2" .083 wall tubing. Sheet that with 18 ga. sheet.
are you talking about the 2 hole bracket on the right of the frame, should bolt to sub rail behind cowl?
The one furthest to the right in your photo would be the correct one for the cowl block mounts. The one to the left is for the hood hold down clamps, and also support the inner edge of the front fender.
