Nope. General Motors didn't have anything
to do with them. Some Mosquitoes were built
in Canada....by 'Victory Aircraft' in Toronto.
Victory Aircraft was a 'Crown Corporation' -
ie - a Canadian government-owned company
- created when the Canadian government
nationalized the assets of the originally
British-owned A.V. Roe (Canada) Ltd. aircraft
company. There was no connection at all to
General Motors. The only 'U.S. automotive
industry' connection was that all the
Canadian-built Mosquitoes - and a lot of
the later British-built ones as well - used slightly
revamped and improved Packard-built copies
of the V1650 Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. You're
probably confusing the Merlin engine with the
quite different, G.M designed and built V1710
Allison engine.

I saw a Mosquito at the air Museum in Ottawa many years ago. Quite important when considering WWII history.
