She, in her best upper-class English accent - "Oh, Charles! I love cats, but, I'm not sure I could eat a whole one."
    :D

(I think the quote might be from ALF, TV show ????)

"In October 1938 the Ministry rejected their proposal, sceptical about the idea of a wooden plane and the concept of the unarmed bomber. They informed de Havilland that their contribution was best served by building wings for one of the existing bomber aircraft programs. Regardless, de Havilland was convinced the idea was sound and continued development on their own. The support of Sir Wilfrid Freeman eventually proved decisive and a contract for fifty aircraft, including one prototype, was finally placed under B.1/40 on 1 March 1940."

The Atlantic City boardwalk. Possibly Easter Sunday, judging by all the ladies with the hats.

Nope. General Motors didn't have anything
to do with them. Some Mosquitoes were built
in Canada....by 'Victory Aircraft' in Toronto.
Victory Aircraft was a 'Crown Corporation' -
    ie - a Canadian government-owned company
    - created when the Canadian government
nationalized the assets of the originally
British-owned A.V. Roe (Canada) Ltd. aircraft
company. There was no connection at all to
General Motors. The only 'U.S. automotive
industry' connection was that all the
    Canadian-built Mosquitoes - and a lot of
the later British-built ones as well - used slightly
    revamped and improved Packard-built copies
    of the V1650 Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. You're
probably confusing the Merlin engine with the
quite different, G.M designed and built V1710
    Allison engine.

<TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=6 width="100%">Plus the airframes were made out of PLYWOOD. Incredible when you think of that.

I saw a Mosquito at the air Museum in Ottawa many years ago. Quite important when considering WWII history.

" In Canada, fuselages were built in the Oshawa, Ontario plant of General Motors of Canada Limited. These were shipped to De Havilland of Canada in Toronto for mating to fuselages and completion. As a secondary manufacturer, de Havilland Australia started construction in Sydney. These production lines added 1,076 from Canada and 212 from Australia."

Mosquito airplane fuselage production reaches one a day "
