Yeah, one of those hilarious pix that really doesn't
need explanation, WVEnfield! Glad you found it.

Now, THAT is a fine, pro-taken publicity shot of Gable. Is it the Duesy?
Maybe the Ford? He seems too young for this to be his Packard Darrin.

I love to look at old cars too but I also love history (doesn't the title of this thread imply/equal history?). This thread contains a lot of both and I just want to thank all of you that have posted, especially the 'regulars', for one of the best threads going. I look forward to it everyday.

Actually it might need some explanation. Look at the roofline! That is not a coupe or a sedan and with that thin pillar between the front door and the rear quarter glass it looks like an Australian production sloper?

RoadKill, I guess YOU were surely correct, brother! I only became aware of the sloper body recently, so I missed it. Guess I got stuck on the little girl with the "Oh, what did daddy just do to the car?" look. THANKS for the catch!!!

1937 Packard Twelve Convertible. Just enough detail there to identify.

    Great photo, great ride.

Ahhhhh...a good old GM "Fishbowl" bus! When I became a transit driver in 2005 they used a small fleet of the old GM's for training purposes. I guess they figured if we could drive one of them we could drive anything! Lumbersome, underpowered beasts!! :D

It's a 1940 Pontiac made in Australia. note the RHD and the sloper roofline

This body was only made in Australia.

Thanks, VintageRide! Clark Gable certainly had decent taste in cars, didn't he? Seems his Fords, though, were knock-abouts for weekend getaways, etc., and the "snazzy" makes were for making the city scene. Just a speculation.

The November 2010 issue of Hemmings Classic Cars Pg 47 has a surviving 1908 BrowniekaR.The man standing next to it really shows how tiny this Kar was!

Genuine color Autochrome from 1917 showing French soldiers
and their truck (Renault?) near the front. Autochromes were
    NOT hand-tinted black-and-white shots, but were a three-stage
true color process. The complexity probably limited Autochrome
use to still or slower shots.

There's room for kindness, mercy and comfort, even in war.
Here, an allied chaplain chats with a VERY young German POW
in 1918 and offers him water and a cigar.

In a genuine 1918 color Autochrome shot by Australian army
photographer Frank Hurley in Palestine, a cavalryman of the
Australian Light Horse Brigade pauses to pick a bouquet of
anemones (not poppies). Autochromes were NOT hand-tinted
black-and-white shots, but were a three-stage true color process.
The complexity probably limited Autochrome use to still and
    slower shots.

Hiya, 57VetteMan. Whether you call it a coupe
(which I would) or a "gull-wing," Tim Flock actually
    drove a Mercedes gull-wing to victory in a wide-open
NASCAR race in '54 or '55. (Race guys, help???
    Which season?)

As stated already it looks like a Pontiac, especially by the hood.
