Found this '29 in Montana. Must have been used as a farm truck, the trunk was missing and so were the doors. Found a pair of doors the same color at a swap meet 400 miles away. working on a '24 roadster/speedster banger too.
Note: tried to send the pictures of this car as it was found in the "wilderness" but the system doesn't like them. It's a shame, the pictures are cool.

Here is my '26 Chevy roadster. It came from the Ponderosa Ranch lot in Dayton Nevada and was once part of the Harrah's collection. Just extra tin to them I looked at it through the fence for years. I don't know who wrote he price on the deck lid but Bill Anderson of the Ponderosa wouldn't sell it to me for that price. I eventually got it for less. The plan for now is a bored & stroked 153 Chevy II 4 cylinder, saganaw 4 speed OD, Dana 44 posi, 19" wire wheels. Low and minimal. I'll post more when I get the body out of the corner. Thanks Kume for sending me here.

PBR, I'll get some more for you. Give me a day or two. Cool thing about Chevys is they have hidden hinges. The bad thing is all the wood. Luckily mine has most of the wood.

  6. Cool, i'm doing a 28 and missing a drivers door, and looking for more options to search for. pop a pic of the hinge too if you could

Here's a few mockup shots of my 30 roadster. Doors were reversed by a local hot rodder in the early 60's but plans are to put them back to stock at some point. 292, 3 1 barrels, 33 chevy grill shell....ala Dick Bertolucci inspired.

OK PBR, I drug the '26 out today and added a lot more pics to the album. I hope they help. This is not going to be easy and if it is as rare as it seems to be I have to do a good job.

  9. Do you have the Tulip panel for above the trunk lid?

Hope you don't mind but I saved all the images for reference. You really have a clean roadster body there. They all seem to rust along the bottom.

[IMG]This is a 1927 chevy my son and I built over a year and a half.It started life as a 4 door touring but some where along the way it must have had it's doors blown off by a V8 ford because they were missing. we started it when he was 11. It's awsome to see him drive It. Don't ask the white coupe with pink stripes in the background is not for sale at any price.

No I don't mind. I am glad they may help you. Yes I have that piece but I didn't see it today. There is also a small piece still attached to the wood under the trunk lid. I am missing one of the small pieces that goes under the door. I'll look again.

  12. Thanks sixball.
Door handles and the hinges are the same as my 28, so that opens up the searching for my missing parts. but if anyone's got a 27-28 pass side roadster/touring door, let me know..

Awesome project you got there, keep us posted as the progress is make. Fun and rare car you have when she's done

is this chevy roadster?....found it in the bush with some other junk

  15. This is as close as I got to a chevy roadster..started with a 31 pickup cab and a 36 chevy pickup front axle/springs. Built my own chassis. I wanted to build a lakes-modified.
Narrowed the body 6 inches and made 1/4s from a 40 chevy hood....back panel was a door skin from a 50 chevy.
I put the front springs on top of the frame for an underslung suspension, built a tall rear crossmember and used model A rear spring to get it down.
Sold it before getting it running and another HAMBer [X-derilect] and local guy bought it outta a field.finished it and put a 235 in it..drove it for years...what fun!

This is a pretty cool thread. The only problem I see coming from it is now I have to find a chevy roadster to add to my collection of cars to builld. Damn

I owned this '32 Chevy roadster pickup for about ten years in the 90's. It was the most fun car I have ever owned. The late John Pickle of San Diego, CA built it in '83 and I traded him a '40 Ford SD for it at the '83 Street Rod Nats in St. Paul. The car is currently in Maryland and is for sale on HotRodHotline.

If done properly could a 29 chevy 3 window be converted to a roadster? I have a line on a roadster windshield frame. Has anyone converted a chevy coupe?

That is PART of a chev roadster door. 1929-30 and maybe later.

  23. I have been helping a friend of mine put his 31 roadster back together that he bought back in 1953 when he and his brother went on a road trip to Montana. He bought the car for $50.00 bucks and drove it almost all the way back home, until it sheared the nut on the rear axle. It has been sitting in his barn ever since. We have gone through all the running gear and are getting ready to do the body work and reassemble it. I am looking forward to seeing him drive down the road in it. He is looking for a set of original knobs that connect the top to the body, and a door handle for the driver side. Somehow over the years they have gotten lost.

If anyone has a '29 or '30 chev roadster could you give me the measurements between the the quarters. At the upper panel and at the lower panel. On my car I am missing the upper and lower panels and the deck lid. A Model A deck lid seems to have the same curve but I believe it is too wide. any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Norm

  25. Man, these are about as rare as a positive balance in my checking account. I agree the 29 is a beautiful machine. I am surprised to see as many as were posted. ~Sololobo~

On my 30 chev roadster those measurements are right at 40" top and bottom. I have a Model A coupe (31) sitting next to it and it's decklid is 36 5/8" at the top and 35 1/2" at the bottom.

I am sure someone with the skills could make it work.

  28. There's ALOT to change around the cowl and doors, AND the door lengths are different...

Thanks for the reply on the deck lid size. While I've got you "on the line" could you give me the "fore and aft" measurements on the upper panel the deck lid and the lower panel. Looks like I'm going to haveto make them. Thank you very much. Norm
