Here's some photos of my father's truck. Originally built by Iron Exile.

  5. Why is it that with this style of truck there is such a total lack of design, proportion and general taste. Some of these examples are really good. Others,-- Not so much. Most have grill shells that don't work with the body style. Others have headlights that are totally out of place and just plain look ugly and odd. Bed lenght is critical. Tire size is also very important to pull it off. Seems like most of you that put up pictures just threw a bunch of parts together and hoped it would look right. It's like going up to the plate and swinging at a fastball with your eyes closed.
Lucky, You know what looks right. Your stuff is proof of that.
By the way. Jeff Norwell's truck is perfect. Why can't guys look at the really good stuff and immulate it. I don't mean you have to copy it. Just take the good design cues and make your own version of it instead of looking like some backwater hillbilly abortion afterthought. Alright, I have spouted off enough. Just have a decent plan from beginning to end and execute it to the best of your ability. If you don't have the ability then get some help. Is this going to get me in trouble? Opinions are (you know what they say).

Of course I agree with you 100%. But ya know its ok. Some of us don't have to like what other guys like/build. Those are probably the same guys that don't like my truck. It's alright either way. Now on the flip side Norwells truck, well everybody loves that truck.

Isn't one of the hallmarks of this hobby to build what YOU think is cool? If we're all supposed to take the styling cues from one "look" that's "right", then everyone will build similar vehicles. Borrrrrrrrring! I'm all for looking at different styles, different looks, different executions. That's hot rodding! For example; how many black 32 Fords with red wheels can one look at and get excited? No offense to anyone with a black 32 Ford with red wheels, but you know what I mean! LoL.

The good thing about these trucks is, its a good way for a guy to learn how to build stuff.
Lets face it decent coupe bodies are hard to come by and if a guy can learn from building one of these trucks and have fun with it when its done. Then thats gotta be a good thing, But I agree some of these builds just miss the mark when it comes to proportions.
