Now they need to make the show longer. I am not going to have enough to look at all of these beautiful rides. Great job guys, keep up the great work. I can not wait. I wish I lived closer, so I could drive my car there.

Plane tickets purchased. Motel rooms reserved.

Will Pat Ganahls "The American CUSTOM CAR" book - along with the new Larry Watson book be sold in this building? If so save us 3 of each. Cheers

A friend of mines cousin supposedly has worked on the McArdle Chevy, in Amador County, possibly the town of Jackson, as soon as we get confirmation Axle will be the first to know.

We are all still working very hard to get the very best cars to this event... and not only cars. But also a all the special guests and wonderful custom car related items that will be on display.

We have created this logo especially for the event. So that it will be recognized a bit better in the media.
If you want a high res version or a vector .ai or .eps click on the logo and it will bring you to a site where you can download different versions of the logo.

Axle and John Buck have been working very hard with the Peterson Museum to get two early customs. And we are extremely proud we have them both. Thank you guys for the hard work, and of coars the Peterson museum for loaning them to the Customs Then & Now event.

The two cars that where added today are an perfect sample of early customizing. The Rulon McGregor 1939 Mercury convertible with original Glen Houser Carson top. And the chop is rumored to be done by the Ayala's (not confirmed though). The car is a typical sample of the custom cars that where built in the early and mid 1940's. Not to much body work, just the right amount of chop, and lowering, and of coarse a full custom interior and a perfectly shaped Carson top.

The second addition is the 1946 Lincoln Continental built for Henry Ford II by Coachcraft ltd. The car uses the stock 1946 Lincoln front sheet metal and the rear of a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr, nicely blended together with fade away fenders. The original plan was to built two of these cars. One for Henry Ford II and the other for actor Gary Cooper. But for some reason Gary did not want it.

Here is a photo of Gary Cooper checking out the car.

And this is how the car looks today.

We hope to bring you more additions very soon.

Hey Rik, I may be wrong about this but I remember reading in a Hemmings years ago about a 40 Merc or Lincoln that was done by Coachcraft for Frank Loyd Wright. I may be wrong about this but I remember the article saying that the car still exists and is completely restored. I would love to see that one in person too!

Thank you so much for creating the advertisement artwork Rik, and thanks for posting our two latest additions.

Folks, the red 1939 Delahaye will not be in this display however , we have two other extremely elegant cars to choose from - one is a 1938 Delahaye with factory orange pinstriping , and the other is a beautiful 1938 Bugati with roll up/down windshield. Can't have both of these stunning automobiles so which one does everyone prefer? I know, its like choosing between Cherry or Strawberry JellyBeans ;)

Johnny, i do recall hearing about a car built for Frank Loyd Wright but don't know what it was. I could imagine it being very elegant. Funny, i wonder if someone were to of built a car for Eichler what it would of looked like ? ;)

This is the car... Personally I don't think its that elegant... I much more prefer his architecture. And I'm also not sure if it was built by Coachcraft.
