i bought a ol 58 anglia that had been a old drag car ive been working on it for 5 months to bring it back to life i thought everything was good car hadn't run in 20 years but when i got the car i fooled with the engine it wasnt stuck so i put a battery on it a dist in it and some fresh gas it fired up i thought man this was to easy i put another carb on it and a new fuel pump it sat and ran but it got hot i done a compression check it had a blown head gasket so i pulled the heads took them to the mashine shop they checked em no cracks but the guy said man they been real hot so hot it melted the valve stem seals i had them fix the heads i replaced em car started right up ran no weired sounds oil pressure was ok so i thought man this cant be for once igot lucky i done the brakes fuel system got it stoping and going running cool changed oil in it twice ive had it running for 3 monthes everything seemed alright i was gonna take it to the drag bash this sat well tuesday i was tying up some loose wires etc i hooked my tach up started the car it was missfiring i found the cylender checked the plug it was ok so i thought ok i flooded it i cleaned the plug put it back in cranked it it ran normal but when the temp started to come up i started hearing a knock if you reved it up it got worse so i started checking stuff took the belt off it still knocked checked the flywheel and tork converter they were tight so i drained the oil yep there it was oil isnt supposed to have gold flake in it so i guess it spun a bearing i guess its better to do it in the garage and not going down the strip oh well i guess theres next year at least ill have time to do it right
Dude are you six years old? There is a big difference between no punctuation and no spaces between words. everyone else can read his post just fine, but you had to go out of your way to act like a small child. grow up.
Lurch, I feel your pain my friend! Pay no mind to all of the English professor's in the room, lol Chuck
Thats not bad luck.Least the engine fired up.My luck is such that when loading it a chain binder would break and the car would roll back and twist my knee. After getting it to the shop when I would try and start it gas would spit in my eye from a split line or I would touch a hot wire that makes my pacemaker quit.If I survived that something would fall off and bash a toe.Not to mention all the small critters that bite or sting that I would have found sitting in it.Man,some people have all the good luck.
Waah. I like sentences I can read, not text messages. Punctuation is a nice thing, too. Call me old-fashioned. Enjoy. BTW, to the OP, your pain is felt.
Lurch, sorry to read of your problems. Everybody else, I think we have a generation gap going here, because I can't read stuff without punctuation as well... Seems like every body ten years younger can, I can't!
I was able to figure it out, but man, I damn near ran out of breath reading it. Throw in a comma or semicolon every now and then so I can take a breath.
It's an old car. You didn't seriously expect the good luck to last forever did you? I've learned to expect the worst. That way, I'm not too disappointed when it happens and even more happy when it doesn't.
If you english types can not add to the post go some where else to add your coments. Try to add to a post not degrade the poster
Ive had similar good/bad luck. The rotor went out on my Buick. I was in the driveway leaving for a show. A month earlier I had driven it approximately 300 miles without a problem. I was glad it happened at home.
I've had my share of driveway and roadway problems, that's why I've stayed away from airplanes, I can always walk home!
That's opportunity knocking. Time for a bigger overbore, too much cam, too much compression, more timing and octane. Fun Stuff!!!!!!!!!
could have been worse it could have let go while running and had parts and block spread around the room call yourself lucky that you caught it before it was s**** metal that and you caught it before you left the house nothing worse than driving to an event and breaking down there
yea it ****s but im greatfull it didn't let go and puke a rod out the side . ( theres your period ) im not a writer or a school teacher and dont claim to be one . im glad i still got a car i can take so anyone thats close you need to come out to 411 dragway tomorrow. p.s heres a pic for the guy that wanted one
