    I just pulled a build 406 outta my 34 in favor of a 283. Cleaning the block up this evening:D

    can't be a '57 283...it's got late '60's valve covers and intake manifold and quadrajet carb...unless you're saying that the block is a '57 283.
    ...couldn't say what heads those are.

    305-307 not even good boat anchors. Why bother with junk?

    should be a 997 casting number (pull a valve cover to be sure) 1957 head, chamber similar to power pak but has sharp corners in plug shroud area

    its in a 52 truck i just got,seller said it was a 57(didnt say corvette though!!ha ha)

  14. It's got front mounts so it's either a '56 or '57 ***uming it has an oil filter boss?

    If dont remember wrong so does all the sbc have the holes for
    the front mounts. But im not a chevy guy

    Yeah they do. I mounted a 350 from a 78 blazer from the front when I wa mocking my '35 up.

    283 will rev nicely and have torque in your application. I got the High Torque 283 in my 64 Dually. a 327 would be a fine option too. That truck could've come with both from the factory.

    turns out i have a 57 block with 307 or 327 heads
