Picked mine up a week ago at So-Cal Phoenix! Been all the way through cover to cover two or three times already. That '34 roadster is one of the prettiest cars I have ever seen!

  4. I'm impatiently waiting for my copy as well. Ray and Rory Forbes are buddies of mine and I am looking forward to seeing Rory's car on the cover. What an honor. Young man did good. His dad ain't so bad either. Getting into Rodder's Journal is the ultimate as far as I'm concerned. Something I aspire to as well. Peckerheads rule!

I have gotta say, I have spent way too much time this week staring at the rear three quarters spread of Rory's roadster... I saw the car at LARS and it flat floored me. I have always wondered why '33 and '34 roadsters weren't more popular with guys in the early days. Set up like his, with a mild channel, they are as sleek as it gets...

AH-H-H-H-H-H, the quarterly "Where is my Rodder's Journal, why do the bookstores get it before the subscribers, the mailman always destroys mine, I'm 39 issues behind and if I don't get it like yesterday I'm starting a class action law suit, I'm always the last guy to get it bitchfest. All must be right with the world despite Obama's best effort to derail the whole foundation of the Republic.:D

    jeezus people. This again, really?

Relax, you'll get it when it comes - it's not like it has an expiration date and it'll go bad.

It’s a principal of the thing thing
The subscribers have paid up front for at least 4 issues. They have our money all year to use. They should send them to us first.

When I subscribe to something that’s what I expect…….its called customer service……a seldom seen thing that was once very common and expected in this country.

Agreed. Look, when I subscribe to Hot Rod, or Street Rodder, etc. and I'm paying under a buck an issue for it, I don't mind seeing them in the bookstores for 3-4 days before I get mine (and that's usually all it is).

When I pay $12 an issue, it would be nice to get some perks. One of those perks would be the idea that any swinging dick walking into Borders can't get theirs before I get mine. I was subscribing to TRJ before they'd gotten them into the book stores.

"But, hey, you're still paying less." Yeah, kinda. I pay $12 an issue where the newsstand buyer pays $15, so that's a 20% discount. But there are no returned copies in the subscription world, and they usually figure a 40-50% return rate on the newsstand. Subs are almost always more profitable for the magazines, which is why the big mags can offer such dirt cheap rates.

Given the money paid (and my past professional experience in the world of wholesale magazine distribution), I'm having a hard time thinking that they couldn't take care of their subscribers before they take care of the bookstores. That said, part of the reason I posted this was because I was wondering if they for some reason simply hadn't sent mine - it's happened before within the last year and a half. Apparently from the timelines, it's possible that mine is somewhere in the USPS system.

One other thought - the 'quarterly bitchfest' happens because they e-mail you, letting you know when copies are being sent and when to expect them - and then we don't get them within that time...

FWIW, I got mine Saturday. It was in the mailbox when I got back today. I guess i'm one of the patient ones - I have plenty to read till I get the good stuff.

relax, it will get there...........if you don't go to Borders, you won't know they got it before you......let the mail person bring it and save the trip to town to buy it. Is there a prize for getting it first?

I used to subscribe and it always came late,so I let my sub run out and started buying it at the newstand. Then one day I was looking in the back and saw a place called 'All good stuff automotive' sold it. I called, the man said he had the latest [still my buddys issue hadn't come in the mail yet]. I drove over there about 20 miles to Pasadena,MD. Found an old speed shop, a real hot rodder, and my mag. He asked me if I wanted to be put on the list to be called when it came in. Now its a fun day when the mag comes in. I go to the speed shop and then come home and read the Rodders Journal. By the way Ive had #49 since last Thursday

  24. Jeez, I haven't even opened #48 to look at it yet! Now I'll be two issues behind. Being retired is a bitch, I just don't have the time to keep up with my reading these days!:D

That's the good thing about a magazine, it will always be there when I find the time to read it.

The newstands always get the magazines before the subscribers because they want them on the rack as long as possible to get them sold. It's always been that way as long as I can remember.

Issue 49 is out already? I'm still waiting on #48 and their so-called customer service doesn't respond to any emails.

Might be quicker to swim across the pond and get it at the bookstore!

Re-reading these posts,I have to agree with Racewriter (#41). If they wouldn't send out e-mails saying it was being sent, then everyone wouldn't be in a tizzy that they hadn't gotten theirs' yet.

Another day, no TRJ 49, and no response from their "Customer Service" department. Ways to make customers upset:

    1. Overpromise
    2. Underdeliver
    3. Ignore the customer

Let your subscription lapse and go and buy it on the newstand.......If you want the "Alt" cover.......drive out to Pete & Jake's on a Saturday morning and pick up the "Alt"......and chat with some of the car guys that stop by their place on a Sat. morning....

The wife bought me a subscription to the mag last year for my B-day.......and they "F'd" up my shirt and then "F'd" up my subscription and every time I emailed or called I would never get a response..........She asked if I wanted it again this year and I said "Heck No!!!!"......I will spend the couple of extra dollars to buy it on the "newsstand".

It is a great magazine and I have a TON of the back issue's, back to the single digits.......but, I thought that the reason that you subscribe to a magazine is to get it before "Joe Schmoe" can get it on the newsstand.

    Just my little rant........
