Hey Gary, glad to see you made it here, you might want to elaborate on your "hot rodness". Don't let HRTH discourage you, he just wants some additional information about you, to see if you are his type. :D -Joe

    I've got a couple cars....66 chevelle ss & 62 Chevy II hardtop, my dads gotta 29 5 window hi-boy.

Non of the cars are "traditional" style, but I would love to build a traditional style car....kinda a wanna do a full fendered 32-34 ford 3-window, 30-34 ford full fendered vicky or a 49-51 shoebox. Gotta finish the nova and sell both cars before I can afford that though!!!! One a these days....

So its been awhile, but I thought I'd say hey again!
I got a cool new project that will probably piss a bunch of people off... but f#*k em :D

Got me a VW Beetle, gonna build a volksrod.

Still collecting up parts for it. But so far the plan is a 4" chop and use the moonroof top on it, got a 10"x30" spun alum gas tank for in the front trunk, 37 ford tail lights, 33 ford cowl lights and 29 headlights. small roll bar in the back with no backseat, louvered hood, 33-34 dash or a 32 dash. Gonna build some small nerf type bar on the front. Got some 4 lug artillery style wheels from a fellow hamber but not sure if thats what i'm gonna use yet?

    Let the hate begin!

    -Gary

I did a little photoshop idea of it too
    Heres a few pics...

So much for narrow minded rodders:mad:.That thing is BITCHIN Gary. At least you have some support from fellow Volksrodders. I just built and drive daily a 32 5w, but am building a Volksrod roadster pickup. Please add me to your friends list. PS Its not a thing, which is a 4 door, it was a bug.:p

That pic is actually a photoshop I did when I first got it of my ideas.

I'm surprised to see this thread show back up and its not locked yet lol, thats why I never updated it with recent pics, so heres a few...

chopped it 4", 40 ford wheels are going on it now instead, 49 ford dash, louvered the hood and made some inner fender filler panels that are louvered, oval back window section, has an early w-decklid on it now (not in the pics), there alot more...

Way cool !!!! I love it. Glad to see the volksrod scene gain another step.:) Radical kustom metal work is the same on German steel as it is on Detroit steel. It takes ideas, talent and a welder. Sam and George Barris bought a brand new 49 Merc and drove it for months planning the chop, which was one hell of an historic chop and defines kustoms to this day.
