Wow, very nice work and a beautiful car, I'm very impressed. And to think, I always thought a vedette was some kind of fancy French toilet.:D

WOW.... That is some REALLY creative work. The steering wheel alone is a piece of art.
I have always loved those Ford Vedette's and always wondered how a really well done custom version would look like.... Now I know. Very good!

Now this guy "gets it"!! Very well done. Beautiful design, great execution and wonderful attention to detail... Are you paying attention boys and girls? THIS is how it is done.

  15. This is by far one of the coolest things I've ever seen, and one one of the best threads I've ever read without understanding a word of it!

You've inspired me to get out to the garage...and learn french. I may even work on the car while I'm out there!

Hello! i'm Olivier from France (Paris), 42 years, but i don't speak English
My Kustom car is French Ford vedette 1953.

Oliver, you have captured the 50's very well and your workmanship is outstanding. I love the creative flare from the rear wheel opening back to the tailight. Look forward to the finished car. Keith

Oliver man, i remember seeing your progress on a french forum that wasnt specifically about kustoms, but about any type of car, there was a kustom section full of french kustoms built in house with french domestics, that was i believe 2005?
Sometimes i wondered what happened to the kool Vedette project, now i know, and im really glad!
Viva Los Euro Kustoms! The well done ones that is.

french flathead is like an 8ba from 1949-1954
and the engine in this car is an original FORD v8-60 like yours, you can found the same engines in our MATFORD cars and trucks from the early 30's to the late 40's
in SIMCA cars from the 50's you can found a called v8-60 engines too, but, water pumps, oil pan, intake manifold, the exhaust manifold and the bellhousing are different
