My first thought as well... Made in America does not always mean the USA.

  4. Does that mean that the box is made in the USA or the contents?

I bought two Pro-Shocks, chrome, a couple of years ago from Speedway and they were made in Canada, close enough for me.

well I guess we do still manufacture stuff here in the good ole USA......

  8. lots of suppliers have "made in america" printed on the box these days and like the previous posts stated they usually mean the cardboard not the contents!

it was stamped into the SHOCKS. i'd like to think the whole shock is made here... i'm an optimist. sue me.

  10. I read most of these threads about good old Speedy Bill with some amusement. According to 90 percent here on the HAMB, Speedy stocks shit, and sells shit. If this really was the case, you'd think the guy would be out of business by now. 50 some years and counting selling shit has to be some sort of record. Hell there was even talk on here about him becoming an alliance member. Guess the HAMB doesn't mind buying his so-called shit if they can get a HAMB discount.

It is refreshing when a guy gives a compliment to a supplier.

I bought some Fenton cast iron headers for my flatty in the Shoebox, and they did'nt fit for shit. But is that Speedy of Fenton? It's very hard to buy USA made hot rod parts, I buy parts almost every day and it makes me CRAZY! People say they want quality and in the same breath tell me they have no money, so get me the cheapest, chineseyest shit you can find. Why do I have to pay extra to get my new connecting rods machined??? Because the 8 year old girl in India that honed them does'nt give 2 shits about you or your hotrod. And don't get me started on American Racing wheels - Chinese Racing wheels!?! WTF!!?!?! Can you even buy an american wheel now? All the Speed Pro Pistons I get are made in India, bearings made in Mexico or Israel, and all for 30 or 40 year old cars! Dammit!!!! I'm all wound up now, gotta go break something made in China.

I don't care if Speedy sells Chineese shit or what.... He helped me out once and He's OK in my book.

You would think he was Vintage Speed by the way they get beat up sometimes on the HAMB. But the "beaters" have all bought stuff from Speedway one time or another. Over the long run he's done a lot for rodding......

I think you can search Fenton and Speedway on the HAMB for the rest of the story.

I am selective on what I buy from Speedway. I typically stick with the stuff they do not manufacture, and do buy some stuff they private label (same type of stuff Jegs or Summit private labels). They have great customer service and the delivery time to the midwest is really tough to beat.

  21. No, just average. Colorado is 1-2 day delivery via UPS:rolleyes:

why so much hate? I wonder if some of you "haters" are speaking from personal experience or is it just your cantankerous nature to be a hater.

    how about some love?

nice to see a compliment for a supplier.

I've ordered lots of parts from Speedway. They're 100% in my book. Fast shipping , great return policy and you get what you pay for.

I think it comes down to what you choose from his catalog..
you also can ask a sales rep. where the part is produced..Ive done it.
or who the maker is..done that too.

Speedy has supplied this hobby for a long time , obviously he's here to stay, and must sell what a lot of people want.

be selective..and if you get something you think is cheezy..send it back.

I dont buy much from him..but i know what to look for after going thru his catalog for many many years.
there will always be speedy haters..and closet speedy users..
    whatever..you are your own man
if price is a factor, and you think his quality sucks..save up a few more months weeks, years.. these cars dont usually get buit in a weekend anyways
Or, dont buy critical parts from him if you feel his quality isnt up to snuff..he's not the only game in town

Gotta agree with bobwop---there ARE choices---make one. Speedy Bill is who he is--deal with it.
